Scioto Downs
« on: September 14, 2026, 07:05:23 PM »
Doesn't appear to me that the Ewart and Hill do anything to increase the handle. 30 to 40 years ago races like this would bring out the people to see better horses and they would bet. From what I have heard the attendance Saturday was dismal. Scioto should take that purse money and make a series for older Ohio bred horses. Have 4 legs thru the meet; split for mares, that pay 25,000 then have a final on their big night. 100,000 final to top 9 earners in the 4 legs.  If you are going to subsidize racing in Ohio why bring in horses from out of state when it does nothing for you.

I agree and Saratoga did that. They had a series this year. The top point ones raced in the Gerrity. It was a way to keep the money in house.

Hello. OSU vs TEXAS that night. Case closed. Buckeyes rule over everything in Ohio.

One of the biggest mistakes racetrack management makes IMO! T-bred and harness! Offer the money to the people who support you and your product day in and day out! But that is in conflict with what management is trying to do. Gee, what a surprise. LOL.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: Oh yeah G? Then we have something in common. "Mr B" was the man who asked if I could handle maintaining Historic Track when Barry the former Montgomery PD Chief quit as manager at Goshen and they had nobody. You know to me as a kid I was in awe of the place, had my little stable and caring for that track?
