Thriving or Dying
« on: Today at 12:01:08 PM »
I can remember going to Roosevelt, Meadowlands, Brandywine and many other tracks when Harness Racing was thriving and live handle covered the purses and payed the bills. Today most tracks lose money and can't cover the cost of racing !

So I am going to predict the future post.......... The economic impact harness racing has justifies the handouts. Look what racing has done for casinos. I am glad more people see the writing on the wall and don't live in fairytale land. At what point will the people who believe in handouts understand the truth

They know the truth.

They throw it in your face it's a game.

A game run on the legitimate participants.

The stupid state governments and awfully greedy politicians.

Corrupt regulatory and typically aloof law enforcement and justice.

Gamblers should just quit, honest horseman stand up and walk out.

Then fix it or kill it, but yeh it's DYING!  ;D

It is dead. Each year we see more contraction. No track could support itself. There is no fan interest. Most states want to decouple and end racing. The sport will continue until the handouts end.
What happens to NY racing when Yonkers closes or the purses plummet? The slots will take a beating when the full casino comes nearby. It probably has 2 years left. What will be the ripple effect in NY?

More lies! Most horses don't get a soft landing. Very few horsemen are making a fortune. Your scumbag cheating friends see to that. Let's hope for another round of arrests. The sport needs it more than last time.
