Monmouth Park
« on: May 25, 2026, 10:00:54 PM »
I visited Monmouth Park today.  I always sit on the second floor of the grandstand.  Today while getting off the escalator, I noticed approximately twenty pails, buckets and garbage cans spread out across the entire floor to catch the rain drops falling from the holes in the ceiling.  I couldn't believe how badly deteriorating the place has become with no money being put into upkeep.  The racing consisted of unbettable 3-4 horse fields with little money to be made.  If anyone remembers Monmouth from the 1980s or 90s, it is nothing like it today.

Next year the subsidy will drop from $10 million to 2.5 million for both Monmouth and the Big M.  That should about finish Monmouth Park for good.
