It was often said that the 2nd best driver in Ontario was Ray MacLean Sr. when he was sober, and the best driver was Ray when he was drinking. All that said......the MacLeans, Hugh, Ray, Ray Jr & Dorothy were great people and neighbors.

Sorry to hear this. Another tragic loss to addiction. Talented guy. Couldn't beat the demons. I didn't know him well, but spoke with him numerous times over the years whenever I saw him. I'll never forget, he called me once about 20 years or so ago to tell me about a green horse he drove that he thought was really a nice horse and I should look to see if he was for sale. The colt showed some ability, won his first two starts, and was just starting out, maybe in the Grassroots or something. The horse was Stonebridge Galaxy. He ended earning about $800,000.

  • Sweet: Please Lord, give PurpleSheetPicks FIXED ODDS at every track and every ADW he could wager with, he'll prove he's right.  Racing will be saved, a tsunami of gamblers will show back up, drugs, cheating, animal abuse will stop, real regulatory and enforcement will engage.  There'll be world peace, and he'll stop whining and crying!  Amen!  ;D

  • Sweet: The fact of the matter is the win pool on Beau Jangles was I believe a negative pool,  his real odds not 1/9 but 1/99.  Enough already, we're the real patrons of thius F'ing sport, many of us also care for these animals despite the best don't want drugs and whipping, abuse.  Competition yes!

  • Lockedin with Pace: Robust Hanover was a very small horse driven by William O'Donnell. In fact the late Stan Bergstein used to refer to him as the "little peanut".
