I guess you're not familiar with a high nerve shockwave treatment. I've seen horses that could barely walk turn into Niatross in 48 hours.

So the horse is always extremely lame, he just gets his shockwave treatment and is sound to race. And they gave him off two months for appearances sake?

Back in the 80s, my friend co-owned a horse called Escortention with trainer Ray Flis.  Almost every week he would win the 25k claimer at the Meadowlands, but in between races, he’d be standing in a bucket of ice water.  He never looked lame, but he was sore except for those 2 minutes in the race.

I was made a decent score with Escortention in 1985 at Garden St--i played a $500 one way exacta and he won by a nose after being parked--the exacta paid $6-i was very young and was thrilled because I thought I lost the photo
