I am an old timer and can remember the days back in the old grandstand when they were packed to the gills, all 3 floors, standing room only.
I am old enough to remember, YR, RR, and Monti being packed like that.

The Pegasus Room was reservations Only! and it was always full!

I was in that Pegasus room one time, the bathroom faucets were gold plated. I remember that tiny elevator going up there and that fairly small bar area.

It was like a Vegas Supper Club. Great spot. and the YES, the bar was small but a cool place, Not to mention all the Event rooms, IE: The Hambletonian Room, etc.

Had to wear a sport coat. Place always was always busy, great atmosphere, especially for big stake events. Joe or Doug would set us up, Then Tad. I enjoyed Terraces, food good, great view of the track. But that's when it had better management. Every night was a show back then.

It was still hopping even in to the mid 2000's although on the decline. Was still a great spot to hang and watch races.

Years ago I worked near the track. I was a sales manager for a growing company and I needed to hire more sales people. One day a pretty young lady came for an interview. In reviewing her resume she said she worked nights at the Pegasus. I asked what she liked best about that position and she said,”Sex, drugs and rock n roll”. Well I certainly wouldn’t hire her for a corporate sales position but she definitely had me laughing my balls off. Loved the Meadowlands in those earlier days.
