Why is Pocono dark on Derby day??????
« on: April 28, 2023, 01:53:56 PM »
Why would they decide to not race on maybe the biggest race day of the year. There are hundreds of people who will show to bet the derby. Why not race?? It’s not like they don’t race on Saturdays.  A 3:00 post with the live card flowing right into the derby. Pd drops the ball again. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I don't know a single harness player that bets that crack infested hell hole. When a $ 100 win bet hammers your odds and a $ 100 exacta bet destroys your price, is it no wonder why nobody cares. This track is the ultimate poster child for light a match and watch it burn and has been for years.

Why not only race but have a split screen the whole day up where you can see live from both tracks, and give priority to

Poconos <------Toilet bowl, lol, for obvious reasons, they'll take bets and everyone involved in racing there will enjoy the Kentucky Derby card, the most money wagered every year on a race in the world more so than some large tracks earn in an entire season of racing.

For the ongoing disappointment, I hope Santa has something extra special for you in your Christmas sock. Seriously, something very nice.   ;D

Tioga Downs opens the first Saturday in May every year. They have 1 or 2 races starting at 5:00, take a break and put the derby race on the infield board

KYD usually starts around 7 EST, they'll probably do exactly what you suggested halfway through their (Tioga) card, an intermission of sorts I surmise - Or your way makes sense too.   tmbz1

all tracks will have loads of people looking to bet the derby. to not race is a great example of why racing is going downhill. every track that does race has one of their best days of the year.

I don't disagree but the casino owned tracks consistently..... don't care.  Gural is a unique animal....

And sure, if you can't make it to the derby and want the live excitement other than sitting by your LCD and betting on with your ADW (or Book) make a full day and night of it.  What is CD offering ADW's and Tracks from betting splits, not sure too, I could find out.  They're notoriously stingy, have their own ADW in TS, and have hurt and bulled so many owning a TOTE company too.  CD is an antitrust nightmare and why they've conceded over time - while they go to court and whine give us more, give us everything.

Lot's of sucker money bet on KYD Day and always a chance at a life changing GIACAMO type score!  I'll be here and in my cave all day!   ;D

Pocono used to be a lot of fun before the casino and the big guns came to town, now most of the little guys are completely shut out. once you could go on a warm summer night, watch the pigeons shit in the grandstand and bet a few plow horses.

Chester racing when they are usually dark and pocono not racing when they usually do. I think Chester has the right idea. On Derby day you should race
