Remembering 9/11
« on: September 11, 2021, 08:08:46 AM »
Do you have any recollections directly related to the events of that day 20 years ago?

I wasn't in NYC or DC on that day, but I was in PA. As it relates to racing, I went to the Big M that fall for the stakes races. We had dinner in Hoboken by the river before the card, and weeks after the heinous attacks you could still smell burning plastic in the air.

I have a college friend who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald in 1 of the towers. He wasn't in the office that day. Many of his co-workers were, and perished.

Please share any memories you have...

Did anyone ever discuss why  this   was   successful..     not 1    not 2        but  4  planes were hijacked on the same  day..   I  think   airport security was definitely  in  some  way  responsible for what happened  on  9-11-01......................

I was actually in the air when it happened.  Flying from Hartford to Chicago.  At 9AM we were just landing and they kept us in the plane for a while without explanation.  When we got off everybody was buzzing around in the terminal and I looked up at a monitor and caught the 2nd plane crash.  Being in a big Airport like O'Hare everyone was scared shitless that it could be a target.  We got our rental car ASAP ... Actually had to drive it back to New England later that night as all planes got grounded.  Not fun times.
