Winning The Metro...a disaster for Stud Career

    With the Metro Pace coming up I was looking through some past winners of its 40 year history.   Outside a vey few select horses, winning the Metro seems to be a precursor to having a bad stud career. There are very few exceptions to this. The odds of winning the Metro and having a successful stud career are miniscule.   I'd have many reservations of breeding to a Metro winner based on past History.   Good luck to all participants and I hope a gelding wins.

And, the only Ky Derby winner to break its maiden on at Saratoga dirt is Winning Colors in 1988 (Big Brown on turf).

I think it's a spurious correlation. I'd have to think about it, but off the top of my head-----in the last 25 years-----the obvious ones are Captaintreacherou s, SBSW, and Mach Three. I think all three won the Metro, but I didn't sleep well last night, LOL. Too much traveling this time of year.

Right, those two. I was only going back 25 years, but I would never have forgotten Artsplace! Never! LOL. Yes, that line is pretty straight, LOL. I guess for some the verdict is still out on TDS. But, like I said, spurious correlation to me.
