One week this forum screams that time means nothing and then the next week it does.

some posters. like me, watch races and don't stare at the clock

some posters are obsessed with the clock and final quarters

how many times has someone quoted a 26.1 final quarter?

who doesn't come home in 26.1 at M1?

too bad the Bongiorno horse didn't go 45.3 and eclipse Bulldog's mark--would have made many here very excited

Ken Warkentin makes a big deal out of it when a horse goes a 27 flat first quarter and calls it dazzling.

You're right.

Time does matter. That's what breeding deals are set on.

That said, monster times usually happen on big days with the track worked to provide as much speed as possible. Best Chip's 1:46.4 was on Pace day, I believe. Dealt A Winner went 45.4 on Hambo day.   He was very good but maybe not a great. But the track was super fast.

Bourbonista  (Melander) winning off a layoff after trotting 48.4 five weeks ago is another.  How does THAT happen? Second fastest trot mile ever belongs to a mare that was mid level condition two months ago. Now she only runs every 3-4-5 weeks and wins big races.

Melander almost won the Mare trot with Tactical Moni. Off 7 weeks. One race in 10 months. How does THAT happen.

I don't know how it happens, but it's bullshit.

Makes me appreciate Bulldog Hanover who went 46.1 or better three straight weeks.

Dealt A Winner went 47.3 on Hambletonian Day

Bulldog is the only one to pace sub 46

Best Chip

last year averaged less than $1900 per start 26 starts

Forget about Beau Jangles, Brandon, Mamba

this horse 1.5 seconds Faster

Times are starting to mean nothing..

It is who you beat.

They only go as fast as they have too.  No matter if its 1:55 or 1:46.

Imagine as a 3yo having 26 starts and making 51k with a mark of 52… imagine the following year you go 120 flat to 3 quarters and still sprint home in 26.1…. Now imagine Joe Bongiorno is the trainer of said horse… it’s criminal plain and simple!!

Wasn't he going like 156.0 with his last trainer going off 90/1?  Same owner or did the barred cheater El Dorado have him then?

PS.   Parked to the half in 53:3. !!!!!

No worries......Home in :52

last quarter 26:1 under wraps.
I would love to see how fast a horse like him could actually go in a "Time Trial" setting  🤔

so maybe if he wasnt parked would paced 1:44:4 ?

Not bad for a NW horse.

El Dorado got him late April, and he was going 152-153 at the meadowlands for Stallworth and Stillwell.
Seems 1 was listed for NY races and the other for NJ races, etc.
Neither are big time trainers, but both have lifetime 11% win percentages.

Some guy from Fort Myers named Joshua Lewis is the principle owner.

I was watching Mohawk over the weekend,  Randy said there is a big difference in the surfaces between the Meadowlands and Mohawk.

This accounts how good/bad or bad/good they go depending on which track they are on first....
