Whoa!! fillies and mares MID level . 26.0  53.1   120.0  1.47.3 and its cool out here [low 60's]
What I do think was cool was the two top horses were driven by one each of two sets of brothers.
Trevor Smith [brother Tyler] + Austin Hanners [brother Luke] All four solid fairly reliable drivers. tmbz1
Followed Tyler all his life. He was a young Phenom. Even announcing on a number of occasions. Saw
him become the youngest driver to break 2 minutes as a driver. I believe he was 12.
I remember hearing about that..
Race 6 both Smith brothers 1st and 2nd  Hanners brothers 3rd and 4th ;D
I've always liked Tyler... always tries with a horse

Back in my going to the track multiple days a week days , I always liked the Hanners boys Dad.. Brad.. he was good at getting one to leave at the start.

Was fun watching Brad at pompano years ago. Wasn’t afraid to leave but got hung a few times too!

I recall a couple cases like this in (fairly) recent memory.

I think one of them did end up passing away - not sure if it was still in the lake or thereafter.

Virgil the model husband had a young trotter end up in the lake at Northfield maybe..5-8 years ago that was retrieved and went on to race thereafter.

As you say, left to their own devices a horse will do fine in the water, but while harnessed and hooked, it is a bad scene.

Yeah, it's sad. I remember watching live & im pretty sure I remember a horse went over the rail & into the deep part of the centerfield pond & drowned.
Horse bad the bike attached & all the gear weighing him down, no chance.

If there is a pond, it should be no more than 3 feet deep.

I've also seen a horse get loose, do 5 laps on the half mile track with gear/bike attached, run down into the paddock, run out the entrance and right up the road, turned right and up another road and ended up getting stopped about a half mile away near a pharmacy.
Lucky it wasn't injured at all, scratched that day obv but raced a week later.
You should have stayed in school & got a job.

Watching some Running Aces. They may be cheap but you can at least read and tell the
numbers and colors on the saddle cloths, unlike Scioto's , where they are the worst I've seen.
