Mohawk Saturday
« on: February 22, 2025, 10:55:31 AM »
Race#1-#4 GET A ROOM 3-1 ML Not overly concerned about the last quarter in the qualifier. Picks up McNair this evening, horse looks to have some potential, see if he gets a shot in his first lifetime start.

Race#4-#6 TOBINS CHESTER 6-1 ML Raced big in his first start under the Cullen barn. Grinder away first up narrowly being beaten, racing for less $$$ tonight but in with a much tougher bunch, expectation of leaving tonight.

Race#11-#1 HIGHLANDBEACHLOVE R 10-1 ML Last start was a huge improvement, in these carry over mandatory payout nights, retail horse generally leaves hard unlike most races. Auciello barn usually handy in these types of events.

Race#7 I almost never play a superfecta, however in here I’m going to bet
.20 cent box 1-4-6 (all)
I like both Menary steeds to finish top & I’ll also include a bomb in there as well in #4 , Moving into Bourassa barn from Pat Lachance & getting LPR to drive instead of Lachance.

Best of luck!  tmbz1

MANDATORY HI5 20 CENTER LAST RACE
11 SCHEDULED TO PACE

*****very important
#10 ARMOR SEELSTER Plante. 7/2 ml.  has been moved to inside to trailing post..this rarely happens.

Wired in good time and quality last quarter fashion last week against much the same, as he too over for Jamieson, who drove another last week. He won't get to wire here BUT should be sharp for the .294 journeyman Plante once more, who should get to follow 'relatively interested pair' off the hop. Not impossible to believe Plante can get this one up on rail into first turn 3rd 4th or 5th.

Says here: he ends up first, second or third and a KEY position on hi5 tickets.
Barring scratches on driver changes of consequence, that's how I'll play

Good luck as always

p.s. if you like trot racing, like Saratoga gives you Sunday afts, FLAMBORO, a stone's throw from Mohawk, has lots of trots tonight (4 of first 5 races trots pk5.. races 3-6 20 cent win 4 all full field trots) always makes for pricier night.((They had to do something  I think when MOHAWK MEADOWLANDS NFIELD and last hr and change of Santa Anita pounding their Sat eve handle. I like it..let's see how it goes. First post Dundas Ont 6.35pm

Great spot on the 4 in the 7th.

Payout on the Penta in the 11th was low.  Lots of people must have banged JMac on top.

Turned out to be an OK card----glad people did well---what, 5 or 6 races out of 11 were better than 2-1 winners? For me, % of favorites is a benchmark, but in the end it's about value. I don't mind 2-1 if I think the horse is a very, very strong win play. Do the work and your better off than most! LOL. Good luck everyone!

once again the mandatory payout was much ado about nothing
as is usually the case they pay nothing, even with $200k free money carryover it paid light, but in my opinion there were 4 horses you could just eliminate from any position other than fifth
if i was woodbine i would be very concerned about my handle, last night was $2.6m and that was with almost $500k chasing the mandatory high 5
friday was $2m and thursday and monday are very weak as well
for the most part uninspiring races and when you find a good horse and want 2.1 to hammer it you  end up getting 3/5

  • Calhoun: Thx I'm leaning to the 5 there.  Those CD/GP full field races look the best on the page. 1/2 length from being a G3 winner.
