How about when trainer of horse and owner of the horse has to give there money back when caught with suspension. The driver also gets fined his 5% and has to give it back also. Driver keeps getting fined from same trainer. He may say fuck it. I’m not driving for him anymore …. Thoughts??

Unfortunately, it doesn’t occur often enough.  Not until they start offering rewards to informants and/or come up with a test that detects these epo drugs.  It’s showing up everywhere, not just at a few tracks.

Usually the purse gets redistributed. Often that is much greater than the fine.

From my understanding a driver already has to return their 5% if the owner & trainer have to return their earnings. Are you suggesting fining the driver on top for their returned earnings?

Do you read the fines and suspensions? There is a phrase "purse redistributed".

before a representative of the NYSGC and waiving the right to a formal hearing and appeal,
the fine is reduced to $250.00. The horse LEAVE AND ROLL will be required to submit a
negative sample for the above mentioned substance before being allowed to participate.
(1st offense in this category in a 365-day period.)

Purse re distribution is what owner has to give back. If you race for 10,000. The winning owner gets 5,000 minus 5% to trainer and driver. He gets a check for 90% or 4,500 trainer and driver gets check for 250.00 each. The owner has to give back that 4,500. The trainer pays back whatever fine the track dishes out the driver pays nothing

Wow I’ve met a lot of stupid people in the world but this takes it all.  Let’s say Ron Burke comes up positive on Yonkers trot for 1,000,000 do you think yannick gingras has to pay back his 5%. Or 25,000   If you do think he pays that back your a moron. Only the purse from the owner yannick keeps every dime.  That’s why if you read misty meadows first post.  Wouldn’t it be nice if drivers have to pay it back. Then maybe they wouldn’t drive for these known gas people anymore.
