Old horsemen to provide commentary? You mean like Peter Kleinhans? I remember when he was walking around Yonkers with big holes in his shoes moaning about trips to Monti where he would look for a hole and just get yelled at by other drivers like where the f are you going and wind up parked the mile.

Then some years go by and I see his mug on the Big M show as a commentator.

Dave Miller's horse makes a break and he takes him inside out of the way.

I couldn't figure out how he fell off the bike until I watched the replay a few times.

He hit a pot hole the had to be close to a foot deep.

How does that happen on the Grand Circuit?
At least at the Red Mile the holes are inside the pylons. Buffalo has the rt on the track for the horse to race thru and no one does a thing about that
No excuse.

No I mean younger or even small time trainers that know the ins and outs of the business. It's a shame that most of them would be hammered on the set. Furthermore because of the sire stakes program the triple crown races have been totally diminished. 5 horses in the cane was a joke. The thoroughbred game understands that everything revolves around the triple crown.. Unfortunately harness racing has lost that

It wasn't a pothole! It was a raised road/path that connects the track to the infield, inside the entire track there is about 12" deep drainage ditch and under the road/path there is a culvert pipe that lets the water flow under the road to the infield.

Miller was in the drainage area & then hit the 12" raised road acting like a big speed bump.

One thing that really bugs me about Gabe is if he is supposed to be an ambassador for harness racing and he pretty much runs the show at Lexington, why would the Kentucky sire stakes be on the Sunday before the jug. It's one of the reasons Confederate didn't race in Delaware last year, and I don't blame the ownership group. Why go to Delaware run 2 heats and risk drawing 8 hole when you can pace a glorified training mile at Lexington and bank 200 grand. If he was truly trying to promote the sport, there sire stakes final would be around labor day.
Gabe has very little input in the KYSS. They only race a short meet and have to get them raced. It is better for some of the smaller stables if the final conflicts with a GC event. PA finals have conflicted with the GC races in Canada for years
