Hawthorne opening night observations
« on: September 10, 2023, 04:51:51 PM »
Hoosier horses and drivers were dominating. The Kevin lambrught guy will be the best driver there if he gets live drivers. Lots of black drivers winning races too just like last year. Horseplops very own Peter Glassi said he was glad to have harness back and he will be back posting during the week on Hawthorne dark days. 18 big races today in the Windy City.
Johnny Johnson fucked up Chicago harness racing. I hope you die !!!!

Yep sure did. The black drivers have really made their prescience known in Chicago racing the past few years. They fill the box at Hawthorne and are very good horseman.

My two favorite drivers were Lew Williams and Walter Case Jr. I am not a good judge of character.

What kind of neighborhood is Hawthorne in? What condition is the track in for live fans? Is it a safe place to visit?

It's a shit hole, the neighborhood is right on the edge of being shitty. Depending on where you come from, you might have to go thru some bad areas to get to it.

Had the pleasure of spending almost a year with Lew Williams. He knew and could teach so much about horses even in the 80s as his drug abuse was ravishing his body and life. He could look at your horse's feet while standing on the cross ties and with in seconds tell you if your horse interfered or went to his knees and recommend with precision how to have your blacksmith shoe him to correct the problem.
Just from seeing the horse standing on the cross ties. Never a know it all or show off, he would start his advice with, "ya might wanna .....with this one" Sweet Lew with the magic left arm

is the live viewing still confined to clubhouse turn? Makes it unwatchable

Erv Miller cleaned up all weekend. His horses are just way better then those poor guys trying to make a buck over there. Overhiser had six wins as an owner tonight. He won 1/3 of all of the races tonight.
