Monticello-Race 8
« on: December 17, 2018, 03:07:27 PM »
Unless you watch the live feed right now, you'll have to take my word for it. As the field approached the start, a recall was ordered because the rail horse got stuck to the wings of the starting gate. The gate went to the backstretch, folded the wing, and Austin Siegelman is trying to untangle its harness from the gate. Now the horse (#1) is a late scratch. I have seen tens of thousands of races, never saw this happen.

seriously

I've never seen a horse stuck like that either.  It was Terry DiCicco in the bike...similar colors to Austin.

I have seen horses stuck before, Docdor Chaser, a hard leaving horse, got his teeth stuck at Monticello one time.

Have seen it happen a couple of times over the years but never with the rail horse! Usually they just allow the other horses to turn, stop the gate and have someone safely unhook!
