So by this statement alone they should have extended the Meadowlands deal for 1 more year giving NJ time to work through a referendum which is FAR MORE important than a precarious situation with Hoosier. Long term the Meadowlands is THE crucial facility to keep alive for the long term. Three years Johnny? You should be concerned about a decade with the Meadowlands! PATHETIC decision!

Like I posted on another thread, Campbell wanted the GM job when he retired from driving but Gural didn't oblige. This is just a revengeful payback on Campbell's part.

He's not the be all end all Mike. NJ is dead, Jeff tried the squeeze play and it backfired. A 1.3 million drop in handle on that card since last year? 6.1 total for 16 races??? On their biggest day? That's only double what they called a break even overnights card. Nobody outside the business is watching or wagering. The last of the loyal bettors dies off every day. Did you really watch the production? It was painful, they couldn't even get the damn sound right. The remote cams and mics were clipping and blacking out. This is the best of harness racing? Come on, be realistic.

I have lost a great deal of respect for Campbell. Probably 40% of his lifetime earnings came from the Meadowlands.

and he was upset he didnt get it.
Now he screwed the entire Hambo venue up...
Hoosier Park is the last place the Hambo should be..
Better off at Mohawk...or maybe bring back the Syracuse Mile track at the NYS Fair.

better track and better production crews.
The Midwest is Micky Mouse at best..

Facts? How did he screw it up? Rural had the opportunity to keep it at the Big M and sign on for the next few years and would not agree, therefore it became open to other tracks. Those are the facts. Campbell did not force Gural to reject the Hambo!

Campbell sounds like an idiot. One more year at the Meadowlands would have been smart. Who cares about their 3 year rule? Rules are made to be broken.

Let's say they kept it at Meadowlands for another year. What would happen next year if nothing has changed at Meadowlands in regard to a casino and Gural would only go 1 year again, give him another year and keep repeating the process year after year.
The race should have a permanent home at Meadowlands while it's still open, but Gural shot himself in the foot by saying if he doesn't get a casino, he may have to close.
