FIRST TRACKS CUMBERLAND
« on: March 02, 2026, 06:46:51 AM »
Read they are starting thier season earlier this year. March 21 is opening day. With Cumberland, the fairs, and Bangor, the horseman will have a nice, long season.  Vacation there in July.  Always try to go to the fairs. Fried dough is a regular.

Any updates on a new track in Saco? Haven't read anything in a while

I live in Maine and try to hit all the fairs. Great fun.

No updates on Saco because it is a pipe dream. Any savvy investor would not touch harness racing in Maine (or anywhere else, for that matter) with a ten-foot pole.

I believe your right. We have been hearing this rumor for the last five years or so. There was supposedly a group of Boston investors looking into it. Nothing ever came from it.

The heater they in the Grandstand would not heat a Portapotty.

Race office will probably have some type of series for good early money and allow the horses that have been racing out of state to race in them and get the money and once again fuck the Maine Horsemen who have been staving all Winter.

That is not fair to the local horsemen. The race secretary can easily write thier last start had to be at Cumberland.

With the cold winter, how many horses will be ready this early?  Will Butterfield and Dandy Dan Deslandes be returning?

We have been there many times during "Fair" season, but only a few times when the track runs without the fair. Bathrooms hardly work. Grandstand is in disrepair. And the food is.....well.....v ery disappointing.
