Let them all go full throttle for 3/4's of a mile.Do that tracks.Train for that. We'll handicap that. We'll wager on that. And it will be exciting!
Spock have you lost your mind and how bad would it be if at Mohawk they had a half mile dash and they go single file around the track with TYLER BORTH and SCOTT YOUNG LETTING All parked horses have holes with a 58.2 half mile winner, Mohawk is Somalia and the crooked PIRATES run the show.
If you want exciting do a 1/4 mile race on a 1/2 mile track where only drivers with a "P" beside their name can drive.
Quarter horse racing in sulkies would be cool to see.
Odd distances both shorter and longer have been done many times, it just doesn't work. Even confuses the few bettors who understand the game. Bottom line is you can't change the basics that are harness racing. In the public's eye to the few who even know what it is, there's no comparison to other forms of entertainment. It's boring, they'd rather push buttons and play Fortnite for instant gratification and a sense of control. Remember, most people see this now is a crooked industry, can't imagine where they got that idea.
THE entire harness world outside north AMERICA uses distance changes and in France where they have the ARC RACE ONE OF THE BIGGEST RACES IN THE WORLD harness racing is bigger than the runners and its the only place on earth but they have huge fields and big prices, Remember one thing racing at a mile is not doing well and if the harness game believe ABC racing with speeds tracks built for breeders and drug cheats is the answer then there is 100 percent no hope. Mike i watched a show yesterday from the meadowlands with a boring crew and even with a staggart gate speed was awesome if the track had movement with a stag gate it could come back big time and its the only track that has a chance.
