GREAT NEWS!
« on: December 09, 2025, 11:05:58 AM »
The U.S. Trotting Association announced Monday (Dec. 8) that it has formally signed on to endorse the WAGER Act (H.R. 4630), federal legislation introduced by Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) that would restore the full, 100% deductibility of gambling losses.
“The WAGER Act delivers meaningful tax fairness for horseplayers and strengthens the wagering environment that our sport depends on,” said Tanner. “By restoring the full deduction for wagering losses, this legislation supports everyday bettors, protects handle, and helps ensure that pari-mutuel wagering remains competitive in a rapidly evolving gambling market.”

I don't think it's going away anytime soon, but definitely not thriving.  Yearlings are so overpriced it's hard to turn a profit and horsemen racing strictly overnights struggle to get by in most areas.  Doesn't sound like a great recipe for success.  Only the select few are thriving.

If fuckface, lazy ass USTA (you and them  ngc3) were doing anything meaningful it wouldn't of dropped to 90% i.e. you had no lobby, you didn't know and you didn't care...now you're lethally fucked in the Harness Racing quicksand and care about gamblers  ngc3

Please, Drop dead!   ngc3

Racing needs to be reborn without the no good corrupt dumb ass usta for sure!   ;D

0.01% of the population which is what makes up harness racing owners drivers and trainers. Is not going to have any effect on any vote.

Two things, they increased it from 90% to 100% but only if you itemize deductions. If you don't or can't itemize deductions because you don't have enough it's meaningless. Of course in your world that's GREAT NEWS! Even when you itemize your total itemized deductions are subtracted from your taxable income, so you're not actually deducting 100% of them, just lowering your taxable income.

harness racing is doing a lot better than what you think. There are a couple of losers on this site that do nothing but spread bad news about our sport and some of the people involved. If you listen to them they would have you think racing would be all but finished. The fact that some tracks are not doing well? Yes but a lot are prospering.

Other than Hoosier Park, because I'm skeptical about their numbers, name one other track that is prospering, I can't think of any.

 ngc3  True dat, however...

Pompano Park Racetrack is doing phenomenally.... ngc3

"Pompano Park racetrack is being redeveloped into "The Pomp," a massive 223-acre mixed-use project by Caesars Entertainment and The Cordish Companies, featuring 4,000 homes, hotels, 1.35 million sq ft of retail/entertainment/office space, and industrial logistics centers, alongside the existing Harrah's Pompano Beach casino. The old track is gone, replaced by this new destination combining gaming, dining, shopping, living, and business, with Phase One logistics construction starting in 2024 and aiming to create a major South Florida hub."
