These were computed using 62,703 pairs of 2025 races by the same horse in two recent races at two different tracks.

It accounts for temperature (19.8 deg/sec) and ignores all races with breaks, interference, accidents, broken equipment, barn changes, parked miles and distanced horses.

That passes the "eye test" also.  Do you think that there has been much change in the past 2-3 years (track surfaces, erratic timing devices etc.)??

What surprised me was how a small handful of tracks changed throughout this year - in particular Woodbine and the two PEI tracks were several ticks faster this fall compared to the spring/summer while Saratoga and Rosecroft were several ticks slower.

No real idea on why that might be, but the data is quite unambiguous.
