$400. How generous of you. Pay 1/2 what it would cost at a turnout farm and the trainer gets to pay the mortgage and taxes on the property

I help them pay their mortgage when they race our horses during the year. It's called earning a living. Or do you think they make zero money all year? This time of the year we just break even both us and them, they are not losing or making.  You have no idea how well I treat the people who train for me so your comment is worthless.  So yes this is fair.

This is all said by the guy who likes the idea of starving people by cutting food stamps and health care subsidies. So please don't lecture me on generosity.

Interesting ending. I’m 55 never had a food stamp in my life and haven’t starved yet. Oh and I grew up with a single mom of 2. She worked a lot but never begged the government for money

.

Aren’t you special. Too bad most people on food stamps are children, elderly and disabled and those of working age the majority work. I suppose you prefer they starve if they can’t afford to eat. Try again and maybe tomorrow go visit a food pantry and see who walks in.

Got a food pantry just around the corner. Sad reality is most of the middle age people I see with children can afford that vape in their hands

Some trainers will take cheaper horses on deals. Most won't. Are there any "deal trainers " that you know of who can make a decent living?

I don't think there's an absolute, but most trainers I've spoke with who take deals, do so to get horses in the barn and because it's easier to do so when owners don't want to pay the bill(s). I am sure most of them think they will make out better, but then again, generally, horse trainers aren't great businessmen-----especially the majority that take deals, LOL. I think it's foolish for the trainer to take a horse on a deal unless the purses are high enough to make it worthwhile. At the lower end of any track, it just won't work for the trainer. I've seen many go broke.
