He was 2/5

They didn't want to upset and/or confuse the crowd

The rules state that you must lose ground while on a break. This horse lost no ground while pacing. Easy DQ

But the judges do not know the rules or how to enforce them. They stated that he got back trotting before the finish. That is irrelevant if he did not lose ground while on the pace

charted line does not show offstride at the wire

Judges beyond incompetent

They should be replaced for tomorrow's card

I’m sure someone got screwed that had a nice ticket with him not on top.  But usta shows a break on the chart at end of the stretch and I think the horse was actually pacing through the wire.

Just noticed the connections, how chummy are the judges with shady Joe?  Could it have been a favor to him to keep the horse up?  Needs to be investigated!   tmbz1

Purse will get redistributed. Any unbiased person with any familiarity with the rules knows that is a clear DQ. No question. But gamblers will get screwed. Again.

Have to disagree with you here.  No chance that purse is getting redistributed if nothing was done before the race was declared official.  Needs to be some job opening for judges after those clowns get canned.

Maybe you are right. I sincerely hope not. You cant just disregard the rules cause of personal or professional relationships with the connections. That's bat shit crazy. There is public wagering dollars involved

It happened right in front of me.. the only thing I disagree with is the horse did lose ground while breaking.. at least 5 lengths. He did get steppy right at the wire

You are referring to the first break, correct? The Gallup mid stretch. For sure he lost ground. No doubt.

The issue is when he turned to the pace. You saw him losr ground while on the pace? On tv, there is absolutely no way it looked like that horse lost an inch of ground while on the pace.

Correct.. definitely lost ground on the first break.Once he got back on stride .. he did not lose any ground. It was weird. I've only seen it a few times and I've watched thousands of races. Definitely switched from trot  to pace and very steppy right at the wire and almost went of stride again. I had no money on the race. JMHO

But like I mentioned a few posts ago, a horse either last year or the year before got dq'd there for the exact same thing...but that horse a year or two ago clearly paced multiple strides before the wire. Very blatant. This one was just strange.
