Interesting race placement on a card at Northfield
« on: August 27, 2025, 08:59:39 AM »
Tonight 3yo colt Pace

Only drew 1 division - field of 8 going for $100k

Field looks to be dominated by three horse entry from Burke. All three of his have earned at least $ 150,000 and sub 1:50 marks.  Rest of the field also filled with good horses.

Race is carded as leave 14 on a 15 race card.

Slated to go at 10:46p - yeah right but anyway.

You card this late into the night on a Wednesday ??

I get that it’s a bad straight up betting race - but northfield is use to short short payoffs.

It will certainly go off after 11:05, 11:20 or so I my guess.

I agree with OP, definitely an odd placement of this race. I wonder if them not racing last Saturday or this upcoming weekend has anything to do with that?

The pick 6 starts race 8 and ends race 13. There's a $5,000 carryover.

Maybe they wanted to exclude the 1/5 Burke race from the p-6.

Doesn't explain why it's not run early on the card.

To make people stay longer. The Battle of Lake Erie was never run until almost 11:00.

There's also a $23k carryover on the Pick 5 that starts race 6.

Good betting card.
