Was bidding on a horse and eventually lost him to the owner who was upselling his own fucking horse.
Never used it since.

I’ve seen many buy backs.  AMac and Carmine A are well known for bidding on their own horses and taking them back.

Spending tens of thousands on horses sight unseen is a recipe for disaster.

Bingo!  And even some posted pictures of the horse are phony or very old.

Horse write-ups don't tell the true story. Most say no help, saving money for the sale, tied up in last, sick in last. They don't tell you the horse gets injected every week or has a screw in its ankle. Or is it not safe to be around?  I've heard of many that are bought online and never raced again.  Many Amish men also attempt to sell their trotters, but often end up repurchasing them. If a poll were ever taken, I would guess 70% turn out to be bad buys

Your 70% is probably conservative but also applies to ALL horse purchases

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
