Ownership
« on: July 15, 2025, 07:12:23 PM »
I was wanting to get into Fractional ownership, everything seems to be locked up right now online, does anyone know when 2 or 3 year olds will come available or anyone selling a fractional share.

Anthony MacDonald and the Stable do a great job.  Buys good horses, uses very good trainers and  drives many of them himself.  Don't let sour, jealous people stop you from checking him out!

Define 'fractional ownership'?

You're probably better off finding a trainer that you like, deal with, and trust his/her judgment and get into partnership with them.  You're better off having your trainer with a piece of the horse as they will want to be in on lessening expenses and making $$$. Generally, many trainers want a 10% involvement (and even then, they are not crazy about this percentage [they generally want 15%+}).  You also get to deal with your trainer directly, ask questions, go to the barn, et al.

Unsolicited advice, if you think buying into the stable is a legitimate opportunity to make money, you'd better think again. You're paying him for an experience. It's not an investment

His (AMac) is a very smart business model.

His timing was impeccable.

His location was impeccable.

He has name recognition.

He put a large team together, they're fairly organized, and their affiliates i.e. trainers, etc are fair to good.

His clients do not want the sole or limited partnership financial exposure at any level of owning, maintaining, the responsibility of a standardbred.

Costs are in line with affordable for this type typically middle aged, middle income client.

Yet these clients want to be an owner participant, and have inside communications and access, sure a bunch of giddy bottom feeders.

Based on the amount of TheStable's horse inventory and demand, it really is a matter of time until they start striking it big.

I'm not jealous, sour, on the operation, just The Arrogant Old Lady Big Mouth Ego-maniacal Sociopath helming it.

For that reason, I wouldn't invest in his fractional ownership, even if I wanted to be a fractional owner and I DO NOT.
