When be raced Sippininsearoc in the BSS he entered him with the intention to win the race.  My issue is with trainers who enter their horses in a race where winning is not the no 1 priority. 


A few years ago for example when Test of Faith was a monster they raced her in an open mates race one day at Pocono.  Miller sat 5th or 6th.  Moved her on the final turn , paced a final quarter in 25 flat and finished 4th and burned the public’s wallets at 1/9.  The next week she won the Graduate final by open lenghts. 

Miller should have got the rest of the year off.  So should the trainer and the horse.

I read another comment suggestion a while back regarding this situation, don't call or post the times during the race, and do so after the race.  That would be interesting.

Sarcasm my guy - I think jamming grand circuit level horses into ‘n’ races meant for lesser horses is one of the worst things for the sport and Ohio is probably one of the worst offenders.

The Burke operation is unparalleled. You simply can't argue that. Whether they are doing something illegal or not is no different than the same discussion about anyone else. Simply put, if you are racing on hay, oats, and water only, you are at a competitive disadvantage, because virtually everyone is doing something. Everyone looks for an edge. It sucks, but it's reality.

I am not going to give Burke the Nobel prize for saying something everyone knows is true. He chose option b instead of option a. Prep races, elimination races, whatever, and trying to be 100% for a final, is simply part of the sport. Other sports have similar situations. Whether it's tanking a match/game for an easier opponent, sitting starters, whatever, it happens. Either factor it in to your handicapping or don't. You have to do one or the other.

Ron burke is a crybaby  as an owner I'm glad Capone raced him in a race it helps pay the bills. Tioga has a race to fill and it worked out Burke races horse anywhere  a lot of times its just a training mile  so shut the fuck up about a young kid trying to have a barn that is being successful. Your not the most loved trainer in the sport  just ask your help
