Magnitude is legit.
I thought he wouldn't be fully cranked for the race off 5 months layoff and those works.
I still don't think he was. But it didn't matter. Assmussen knew what he has.
So much for me and his workouts.
I couldn't bet at $0.70 which was a gift.
Ran a 105 BSF as easy as could be. His January FG race was a 108. He is as fast as Journalism and Sovereignity. No doubt.
Horse has some knocks... he's been injured, isn't especially consistent, has faced far cheaper heat than say Journalism would put on him and hasn't run longer than 1 1/8.
Very interesting to see what Assmussen does with him. The Haskell is too close. Jim Dandy is on 7/26 so more likely but still kind if close.
Whatever they did to get this horse back, I'm sure they'll be careful. Likely will come down to the track surface, weather, otherwise, you can't go head to head, everyone backs off.
Now if Assmussen can teach these horse to ration out the speed,
rate the horse, he's doubly dangerous, because if they back off and he heads for home with a full tank - could be embarrassing for the others, I think it comes down to that, or he has to bottom out the field and he can't keep those kind of sprinting fractions to the mile and plus 2 furlongs with these others.
Sovereignty, and Journalism backing him up, I think. I love Sovereignty since the futures and was very lucky because East End, nada.
The winner circle picture was sad.
Like no one there, an Assmussen asst trainer, and like no one else.
C'mon, the Iowa Derby but still, a little love for the horse.
