Northfield Race 7 April 9th

My eyes must be failing me, but how does Braiden Rhodes not get set down for cutting off the lead horse near the quarter?  He's lucky he didn't cause a pileup.

Just watched the replay. That was extremely dangerous.  He made the 6 horse jump a few steps. He cut over way to soon. You would think some of these drivers would be a little less careless after recent events, but it seems the opposite is true.

Just watched it.  You are 100% correct.  He clearly crossed over with sufficient clearance, causing the #6 horse to strike the bike of Rhodes.  No room for any other interpretation.  It happened, and is a violation.

Now, because Massey has been leaving with everything, ala Leon Bailey, it is about time someone nudged him.

A track should realize that stupid drives drive more bettors away than does drag between races.  Most bettors are at home and have plenty to do during the down time.  What they don't have is patience for a drive with a hair up his ass leaving hard at 80-1 on a horse that has no chance.  The key being "hair up his ass."   If it were consistent, a person could handicap it.  Look at Ceba Horsey.  He guns almost everything, and a person can factor that in.  If it were more akin to a coin flip, it becomes much harder and that frustration is something harness racing cannot afford to offer.

100% agree with all of this.  Ceba Horsey, Bailey, Massey and a few others.  Some reckless driving and you would think they would change their ways. Problem is there is just NO CONTROL over these idiots.  Tracks are doing nothing about it.  There needs to be more suspensions and heftier fines being handed down.
