Roger Houston

I know he has called 754,873 races. Who really gives a shit how many but he likes to make a point of it. Listening to his race calls at MVG has been rough. Not the screaming BS that he is known for but the confusion, stumbling of words. Yes, I'm fully aware he is 94yrs old.

It's a tough job and he has some of the best race calls of all time. 2 reasons you still hear him are: nobody else can or will do it and Roger still has more talent and knowledge than anybody else available even  at 81.

I though he was retired ?

But yet he appears at all these different tracks --- Are tracks calling him ? Hey Roger we need a guest race caller !!
Or does he show up at the door step ?

I thought he got fired from Meadows? Wouldn't keep his rings off women. Only time I like Roger Houston calls is Delaware fair week. But listening to him at Miami Valley gaming the last few days you definitely can see a major decline. Missed calls, calling wrong horse, anything close at the finish line he gets all F'D up.

He was a mumbling and stumbling race caller 30 years ago. He's just worse now.

He likes quantity over quality. He has been terrible for years, he needs the money to pay his training bills to Atlmeyer. He is an egotistical asshole, if ya don't know it, you never talked to him.

I always thought Roger was really annoying.  Phil Georgeff in Chicago was much better. Rest his soul.

True, I once gave him a compliment in the 90's and instead of a thank you he gave me a dirty look.

How could you POSSIBLY compliment him ?

I think 'most' would agree with that. I think we can 'all' agree though, you don't try and do it when you're 81. 11.wp
