Who is he?
Driving Burke horses at The Meadows.
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.

there will be a point where he can't point and steer. there will be a point when all he has to do is not get locked in. he will win races. just a matter of when burke wants to.

seriously

I need surgery.  I think I'm going to see if the child of my current doctor is available.

And it's great to see the gene pool of participation remains the same.  Just like the Whitakers, give harness racing long enough and the tree will be straight!

He better stick to being a groom because he inherited his old man's lead hands and driving ability which is zero.

He seems to be a really good kid.  Watched him work his way through qualifiers and did exactly what he was told in a very professional way.  He is not being given the cream of the crop to drive and I think he is going to be alright.  He also seems to love harness racing and the horses.

He's gotta do something! He'll find a spot for him, he'll get a shot at driving though Ronnie isn't stupid. he'll protect him as long as he can or till he costs him wins and money. Then he'll wind up working like the rest of the kinfolk.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
