On to a more pleasant post
« on: November 11, 2024, 05:43:20 PM »
Spent a great morning on VETERANS DAY.
Best ever time ever. Member me back in day. 1968 -1970. Every one hated those that served. Today a little different.
So's I'm asked by ARTURO'S daughter a 3rd grader if I would accompany her to VETERANS DAY at her grade school. Of course I says YES. They invite anyone that has or currently servin.
The school has changed over thee years. The first year it opened,I attended 5th grade there. They built a addition. DEMOGRAPHICS from NATIONALITY have changed immensily. STAFF was great. Told them I attended first year it opened. Wores me ARMY VIET HAT and ARMY T. There was to other VETS there. One still in and been for 16 years. Kind of envied his camoflage fatigues and brown boots. The other was a 8 year, who serverd 4 regular and 4 NATIONAL GUARD. They both much younger than I. The soldier that in clean cut,and the other looked like CHARLIE MANSON. Nothin against that as I went wild after gettin out.
Anysee how. What a great time. Gave us a breakfast, but i declined. Had 2 hours earliar ate 2 stuffed green peppers with chesse and crackers followed by 2 reeses butter cups.
So the 3 of us and the small host students are ushered outside. It's just the three vets and each has a student that they with. The Principal on speaker plays GOD BLESS AMERICA. Then doooes a little speech about VETS and PATRIOTIZM. It was great. Then she announces on inter microphone: All classes please come out and stand in hallway. These are KINDERGARTEN -5th grade. We also have a MIDDLE school band playin behind us as we walk this long hallway. IT was GREAT. All youngsters from every grade had these beautiful alredy made up colorings of THANK YOU,VETERANS with the flag and one could color it any way they wanted to. And the kids wantin you to take them. And they high flyin slaps and hand shakes. And when that was done, the 3 of us are brought back in again. The little youngsters 1st and second had their own way of showin appreciation. They drew their own pictures of soldiers and awkwardly printin their appreciation. I've got like 50 of both. I'll cherish them forever. And my sponser.SOPHIA was so happy I went with her. Pictures galore. It was a beautiful thin, compared to 54 years ago.

Took SOPHIA parents to VET memorial  in CARPENTERSVILLE. They wanted to see meese brick and meeese DAD. They were havin a SERVICE there at time for VETS DAY.
I'll say this: GOD .I had alot of pictures takin. You still BEAUTIFUL,JOHHNY.
