I do agree the 2 night handle was really disappointing. Thought 4 million a night was possible and 3 would have been an easy number . Maybe unemployment hurt ? Hell to have the Ohio tracks rival them is unfathomable .

Today's 10-race card at Belmont Park
@TheNYRA
 generated all sources handle of $12,488,960, a 130% increase over 6/21/19 ($5,437,519).

Note to M1 basher.......Exit 16W

It might have been higher, but with so many Yonkers regulars in the driving colony, bettors are still a little reluctant to fire away.

There is no harness track in North America can compete with that

This years Prix D Amerique in France...handled $ 32  million

I don't see many posts saying what a nice gesture of Jeff Gural to card 36 races  in 2 days....only Mark Ford stepped up with his comment.
Did any of the fortunate horsepeople take the time to thank Jeff or Jason or the race office for this gesture ??

I would like to hear about it

WHORSEMEN DONT THANK ANYONE... THAT WORD IS NOT IN THEIR VOCABULARY

WHORSEMEN THINK THEY ARE ENTITLED AND TRACK OWNERS SHOULD KISS THEIR ASS

36 RACES, ARE 36 TOO MANY.  I WILL CHEER WHEN HE SHUTS THE DOOR ON HARNESS RACING AND TELL YOU WELFARE FRAUDS TO GET A REAL JOB

Pocono has a teller
Orangeville had at one time 3 tellers and then went down to two. The one window in the corner would be slow to shut down and sometimes you could still get bets in as they went into the first turn.

Granted some of the money for the sires stakes is supported by other sources, but with their handle and taking 5% and not adding in any costs to run the track (personnel, utilities, insurance, etc) Meadowlands started probably losing money after the 10th or 11th race.

This isn't a knock against the Meds as every track is losing money everytime the starting gate pulls onto the track.

I bring it up as I followed a facebook thread last week that had people congratulating Tioga downs on a record handle. I think they had 15 races....  Using simple but not perfect math of 5% ( no way tioga gets 5% for their signal ) they would have ran out of money after the fourth race.

The industry wants to pat themselves on the back, but wait for it, wait for it, when the time comes and the decoupling of slots occurs in the first state ( Probably Florida ) then other will follow and then what.... We will hear about how they are taking OUR money. And still after decades, the industry has no plan to change and survive.

Wow You are obsessed, do you set your alarm for 3am to check the meadowlands Handle????

They averaged almost 200k per race, I would have guessed they would do 3.6,3.7mil but they didnt, it is what it is.

Comparing Thoroughbreds to Harness? They are not the same thing, they never were, but you know that!

One thing they did last night was really cut back on the post time drag, some people will like that, but that probably cost them some handle.

I'll agree with cornishcommish. "There is no harness track in North America can compete with that"

Last year total Handle: $2,392,922------what is sad is your cherry picking weekly items to suit your warped narrative.
