The $5 minimum mutual wager at Kentucky Downs is adorable ngc3
More importantly are these tracks self sustaining and at profit without casino and or subsidy, and does this move work?
Raise minimums, those that are bothered go elsewhere. Like the tracks could afford to lose 1 penny of business....fucki ng clown car filled with retards ngc3

Makes no sense to me. If they want to bet any amount, they can, but if you raise it to levels that some
can't/won't = loss of potential handle. Like the $5 late doubles. $3 late p3. One again if people want to
bet that or more , they can. By setting those higher minimums they run off potential betters. Like you said
Sweet, they are in no position to turn away bets. Of course , that's IF they actually care.

the higher the minimum-the higher the median payoff due to the dime players would be reluctant to play so many combinations if the min was higher
unlike the casino industry which makes a large percentage of profits off penny slot players---the tracks don't make much off these dime and 20 cent players-so they are trying to encourage them to bet more
i firmly believe the min should be at least $1 on every pool to eliminate the dreamers and the ALL players-or make them put their big boy pants on and play those combinations for a dollar

Only problem with the $1 minimum, it would cause some bettors to eliminate some horses in the Pick 4 or Pick 5 because the ticket would be too expensive unless you have a big bankroll. I rarely play superfectas, and once again a $1 minimum would change my wager to a trifecta instead.

Good point, those specialty wager and West Coast late DD, p3, p4...don't forget and definitely win, because a high base multi-combo will make your account balance shrink like dick on ice ngc3

my counter to that mindset is that those who prefer not to play a more expensive ticket is to go elsewhere and gamble
maybe church bingo or play penny slots with their casino members card and sit and wait to accumulate enough wager rewards points for a discount at the buffet
there is a reason the superfecta on The Kentucky Derby is $1
allowing a 10 cent or 20 cent min isn't fair to the players who take it seriously and just don't blindly wheel or box a hundred combinations

Lower minimums reduce payoffs relative to a $1 or $2 base.
Especially Superfectas.
Lower minimums do one other thing for bettors ... bankroll preservation.
If you want to just cash tickets, you'll favor lower minimums.

Is there anything fair when it comes to gambling?
If it's the track you prefer to play why would or should I go elsewhere. People only have so much money to gamble with and tracks should cater to everybody not just certain people. I think it's only an experiment anyway and wonder what kind of feedback they're getting. It all comes down to then size of someone's bankroll and how serious of a gambler they are.

those people need to bring a bigger bankroll or play leess combinations
it is similar to walking into a casino to play blackjack and then get flabbergasted when they find the lowest min table is $25
if catering to everyone is paramount-then why not make all wagers a penny?

I'm not a casino person and find it laughable some casinos have penny slots.
Once again, size of bankroll and cost of wager can cause you to miss hitting a nice ticket because you had to eliminate some horses you might have used if the minimum was lower. JMO

agree
calling it a "penny" slot provides an optical illusion that they are betting less--even though those slots have like 100 paylines and you can play for much more than 1 cent
same as the superfecta dreamers--calling it a dime super makes them feel they are betting less even though they are playing a ton of numpers

get rid of the $.10 /$.20 wagers completely which would hopefully create more carryovers
just do something like this
min wager on ex, tri , pick 3, dd is $1.00
min wager on pick 4 is $.50
min wager on supers, high 5 , pick 5(and higher) is $.20
its a start

Obviously the 10 and 20 cent wagers cater to the smaller bettor who likes to spread out their combinations, which in most cases eliminates the potential for a high payoff but it keeps them in action.

stagger the take out rates
if you play for 10 or 20 cents-have the takeout 30-40%
if you play for $1 or more-have the take out at 20% or less
the dreamers must bet into a larger takeout-much like the penny slot player who has no idea of what a takeout is

Always felt the majority of people who bet have no idea what the takeout is or care. A long time ago when simulcasting first started alot of the programs used to list the takeouts for each track but it disappeared after a year or two.

i get your thought and its not out of line
i just think its too complicated
the industry needs some serious gamblers to come back in
lower the takeouts and make the pools and payouts worth getting
stop catering to the small time penny pushers, thats been t ried and did not work

Also think there are less serious gamblers now than there used to be as the older bettor continue to die off.

lowering the takeouts will lower the rebates
and the CAWs are the most catered to customer-they like their obscene rebates very much
you are correct-they need to cater to the middle class bettor--but its too late now--that CAW handle is a very addictive entity and the financial hit to "get off the stuff" would initially be massive and that's not an investment they are willing to make
