The Adios may have been a top tier race 40 years ago...
but is more like a Grade 2 Event and that is being generous.
First of all..."The Meadows" is a Tier 2 track
with Tier 2 and 3 drivers...
This years race is so poor ...fillies are entering
and just may beat all the "Stallions"
Filly is 2-1 Fav to win the Adios.
Weak Field....Where is Brandon and Beau?
Where is Dexter Dunn?
Burke 5 entries???? Gimme a freakin break.
To the Adios.......I will just say....
"Adios"

"Adios"
There are a number of reasons for this:
1) The abandonment of heat racing. Now every event takes two or three weeks to context (eliminations, final, week off). The Meadows had to change the traditional date of the race to fit this into the schedule.
2) The sire stakes especially in Ohio and KY. Horses can earn substantial purse money racing mainly in sire stakes. Duel eligibility in KY has made this even more significant.
3) The Meadows itself. The Meadows does not care about racing. They race when most people in prime earning years cannot go or even wager. Adios week was once loaded with races for the best horses. As soon as the Adios is contested next week, all of the top drivers will leave immediately to get to the Meadowlands for Hambo eliminations.
This is Burke's home track so he likes to win this race and he like to race in the Jug.
Burke said this is the best filly he has ever trained. This race may determine if she ever races against the top colts.

Kenny, spot on 100%. I could not have said point 3 any better.
