Maybe Trump can bring back Pompano and Cal Expo along with coal ngc3
Trump ain't no snowflake, he can do anything, almost... ngc3

Has nothing to do with politics, the younger generation are soft and wusses.
Not really, last Saturday the young guys were cleaning up at the BigM and it was real cold.
The Twenties crew... were on fire.
How about, the old greedy, stupid twatface assholes ruined racing...where is the warm weather racing.
Pompano, bye ngc3
Cal Expo, bye ngc3
Still ruining racing ngc3
People and horses don't belong out in sub freezing temps, go ask a dr or vet, is the plop gang smarter than them too ngc3
Fucking embarrassment, shape up peeps...no one gives a shit what stupid bs you or I did in the 80's! ;D

Geez.....I loved Pompano Park. What a freaking shame!
-
The young guns are money hungry and taking advantage of the big boys being on vacation. My point really was to John Moody blaming the Liberals for a potential government shutdown when both sides are the problem.
-
Should have just cancelled Friday. Saturday's temps are projected to be EXACTLY the same as last Saturday, and Sunday looks to be in the 20's in the afternoon.
Let's call this what it is - They were never very interested in racing these added "Freehold" Sunday cards. They only carded four - and wound up racing one. Will they be made up? Doubtful. Will the extra "Freehold" dates money be returned to the state? Also, doubtful. If you own a 68 TMR horse, you've had one racing opportunity in two months.
The little guy takes it in the ass again...

The last years of Pompano Park Raceway were a disgrace...
Few miles away from me, might as well been on Mars.

Let the little guy die.
Why, because all those little guys add up to the majority.
They're scared as shit to stand up to the minority, the druggers and cheaters that are getting all the money.
No NA walk out, fuck them, let them die, painfully because they're pussies that can't stand up for themselves.
Of course the successful criminal cunts of harness racing are on vacation, after robbing they're partying - you're allowing it!

I disagree with your characterizing the druggers as the minority - if you had to race against them you'd know they're not - but I can't argue with anything else you said. You're not wrong.

What did we think was going to happen.
More fell to the quick buck.
Owners screaming, penny pinching.
Threatened with the real life scenario I ain't gonna make it.
Those good horseman, hard working some succumbed to the desperation of failure instead of standing up then, when y'all were the majority.
As far as I'm concerned, not everything is equal.
Y'all stand up now together walk out and list your demands, not just for your damn selves, but for the gambler too...because that's the way harness racing is supposed to be.
This here is an unsustainable abomination.
Big strong men and women, hard working, sacrificing...fin d your god damn balls, and will it, make it stop.
Get all your owners, breeders, vets, your partners, your affiliates and do it as soon as the weather is warm - kill it!
-
Of course they cancelled. Why wouldn't they? Every time they cancel, THEY'RE SAVING MONEY!!! No harness track is profitable. They either survive with casino, sports wagering, or state subsidy handouts. They lose money every time they turn on the lights. Any racino, that could get rid of harness racing, and still keep the casino running, would do it in a nanosecond. The whoresmen should be on their knees, praying to whichever deity they worship, that the states don't wizen up.
Sincerely, Silent One

Can you imagine these fuckers walk out, clean it up, keep it tight, and return.
Could be a cleaner product than t-bred racing.
The amount of press all over the country.
The doors could re-open to find everyone from the common horseplayer to the wall street type, to people actually socializing and gambling at the track, taking a date.
Why not invest in a horse, luck in the genetic draw, the best horsemen and driver match.
GP brought in $48.5 million in wagers last Saturday.
$10,000,000 or so in straight up profit including food and drinks.
Not bad for an 8 hour shift.
But you're right, they lost control, they're silent to take a stand, and just hoping they're not the next domino.
-
Its not easy being a whistleblower in this industry.
There are dishonest, petty, vindictive people in positions of authority at certain tracks.
If you're going to expose crooked dealings in the race office, how do you expect to get your horse raced?
Its kinda like politics---its only when you are retiring/not seeking reelection that the gag comes off....
Its a lot easier to expose the nonsense if you are leaving the business.....
The way the minority becomes the majority is standing together and boycotting the box...How many small time owners and trainers can afford to do that?

Even if they cleaned up the product it won't bring many new fans. For the most part, people who go to or used to go to the racetrack are older people who continue to die and are not being replaced. Younger people would rather bet on sports or be in fantasy leagues. Can you imagine trying to explain to a younger person how to read a program or the racing form. You'd either put them to sleep or get nothing but blank stares.

You make it sound as they have to do one and not the others.
Harness racing is more casual, a few hours out alone or with friends.
They jerk it to ai created images, they may need a push away from what they're doing....I resist online porn for that reason, I'd never be able to look at my penis again knowing I shot a load from fake porn... ngc3
You may be right but huge press, would likely draw people on re-opening day, marketing needs to keep them. Their job.
A friend owns a pool hall asked me and another which video games he should buy, wtf do we know 40 years ago we played Galaga (pinball before that). He laughed, made fun, talked about 3-d games with all kinds of state of the art sound...he bought a bunch of this expensive shit but for a giggle to make fun of us more bought this antique of a game.
It's his best money maker. ;D

How about a newbie goes to the track, watches a race, enjoys it. Asks his friend "when's the next one?" and the answer is 30 minutes. Bye-bye Newbie.

minus 12,
Are you fibbing 🙄🙄

1981 AFC Playoff game Cincy vs SD. Sunday -59 wind chill. The day before Lebanon
right near Cincy raced a double-header. They're racing at Miami and Nfld.
I did like how Settlemoir was quoted as consulting Ford about it. I'm sure he could
have offered up some 'Ways' to keep to keep the horses 'Warm'. ;D
-
Well said. You speak the tooth, er, truth.
-
Better safe than sorry
-
There must be some other form of motivation as to why they would cxl simply because of old temps. What about the owners that pay big bucks for the upkeep of their horses that need to race to stay in the game? Show/ice is a reason to cxl to keep all parties safe but cold temps makes no sense.
A poor decision by the gm.

I agree that there is no future for our sport.
So wouldnt it be nice for harness racing to go out with some dignity, and not sink to the level of the worst cheaters?
I'm sure that there are trainers doing what they know is wrong and unsafe and would prefer not to be doing it but they feel they have to to keeo up with the cheats...
'You may say that I'm a dreamer..."

Anticipated temp for post time on Sunday in East Rutherford is 21 degrees. They raced last Saturday night in the low teens. I hate conspiracy theories, and I hope I'm wrong, but don't be surprised if the purse money saved from the loss of these "cheaper horse" cards, wind up as higher purses in the spring and summer when the bigger stables - the usual suspects - are more involved. I'm not blaming the track. Horseman's organizations primarily represent the blue bloods interests. Money goes to money...

that is extremely plausible, if not true....

I’m not sure what sucked. The betting pools were good, the weather was great and I enjoyed the racing.

Compared to what, a Canadian fair track ngc3
Are you even a $2 bettor? ngc3
Seriously, to each his own on the enjoying part. tmbz1

Yonkers is 12 miles from Meadowlands and they are racing all weekend, what differentiates the horseman’s position from yr to mead?

Almost 20 miles, 18.8 driving.
Maybe 12 by air, copter.

Yonkers is more like a private strip club, with key card access. Everyone is a member with the same goal of getting as much ass as possible, before the dollars run out.
-
I guess my one dollar bills weren’t enough….

I actually like that analogy tmbz1
-
When Gural first took control the Meadowlands always tried to race. Things have changed and looks like no longer cares. It says a lot that Yonkers is racing tonight and the Meadowlands is not.
-
If they cancel Dave Little doesn’t get free buffet. Got to save where u can!
-
I'm not 100% sure where I stand on the safe temperature threshold for racing. I think this cold snap a lot of our Midwest to Northeast tracks are under is pretty perilously close, if not over, the line for safe racing.
But let's assume no track - right now - is subjecting horses to abuse racing in this weather.
If so, the Meadowlands' cancellation looks like a cop-out. Meadows went today; Mohawk is currently racing; and as other have pointed out, Yonkers raced.

w Wow what a bad job to have.

Ford horses finish 1st 2nd and 5th. 3 entered at yr tonight and 3 checks gained. What happened to his recommendation to cxl meads ? I guess his runners are exempt but only when they are racing at yr.
Joke…can’t make it up…
-
Ford won 1 should of bet his 3 equally, small profit.
Burke won 2.
Wrapped up 10 races in 2.5 hours.
$172,000 in purses at Yonkers Friday...mucho pesos ngc3
Swamp Creatures did well overall, just scroll the names tmbz1 ngc3
