I see David Miller is replaced by Todd McCarthy , Huge Improvement, Dave is looking real old. Time to head to Ohio like he said he was going to do.
-
I'm sure the mare is very happy. No more parked the whole mile trips.
-
She better go try to get Dave back
-
at least she held on for the 5th place check

Worst take in 2025?

Todd had no options the mare has gotten lamer and ranker the last 6 starts. Like Miller or not he can finesse a lame trotter with the best of them

Stan your a1000% correct. Horse has made I think over $500K this year. And then they send her out there very sore. What's wrong with these people.
And the state vet who is suppose to protect the horses, where were they before the race.
The whole thing a cluster fuck.

always called that a speed break caused by soreness driver nor recognizing it

Sadly the state vets are for the most part vets that can’t see or diagnose lameness. Part of the issue is the pay no good vet is going to sit there for 5 hours for $200 a night. A good diagnostic vet can make that in 30 minutes. When one does recognize a lame horse most are scared of getting sued if they scratch out of a stake race.
-
Interesting that on the t-bred side, they did what-----scratch the favorite for the Derby? They just scratched one out of the BC and now there is a potential lawsuit, or at least a demand for a full investigation.
In this case here, all valid points. Driver aside, and pre-state vet, race day, I think Stoebe has done extremely well in a short period of time. Real success story. A good story for the sport and business. However, I can't help but feel-----and I hate to use the word as it's not an insult, criticism, etc.-----the "inexperience" might have reared it's head here. The horse has been a bit more off and not as sound, whether it be on and off, or gradually over the last few races. She's put in some big miles and efforts. Even with experience, it takes a certain set of skills, horsemanship, and more, to campaign a high-class horse, over the course of a season, and do it successfully so that your peaks when it counts. Even with experience, many just can't do it. Regardless, she's done a great job. They make breaks and those are the breaks, LOL.

Another example of putting a dead lame horse on the racetrack. The gamblers get screwed with a drawing dead favorite and everyone's health and safety was jeopardized. Thank god Todd had her out in the clear or we all could have watched a disaster.
If you cant tell a horse a lame, the entire industry needs to be shut down.

On the other hand, if you can’t tell a horse is lame in post parade you should be playing slots

And how exactly does this post parade analysis of race 3 help even the most talented eye for lameness before the start of race 1 for the pick 5 or race 2 for the pick 3?
-
The point is the lack of respect for the horse from the connections, and the racetracks lack of respect for the gamblers.

Maybe you should have watched her last 5 starts and seen her getting progressively worse. No shot I would have singled her in that field at those odds

This discussion goes way further than this horse in this race. But gamblers and horsepoeple and horses have to have confidence that the system in place to uphold safety and fairness is viable.
If the horsepeople want to push the envelope and race lame horses or the vets are incapable of determining lameness or scared of being sued, at the very least tracks should not offer pick X wagers.

Oh and if the vet had scratches her you would still be out with Warrawee Michelle as favorite

Hope Yo Tillie and Delaney Hanover come back next year - the aged mare ranks have been decimated by the breeding farms

5 entries in the tvg mares trot is embarrassing. tmbz1

Stoebe seems a bit different than some of the other trainers who are not concerned about the welfare of her horse and is especially fond of Elista. I doubt she would be sending her out lame week after week. Its pretty easy to explain her performances in most of last 4 or so seeing she was slammed with bad posts. In the BC, she went a huge mile having to work hard to get to the front and tired late still trotting in 50 and a piece missing by a neck doing all the work. The horse definitely can be hot and has her quirks so perhaps the switch to Todd was ill timed but probably a move with a look toward next year since Miller will not be travelling to drive and Todd who drives Diabolic Hill will be Elista's regular driver.

Personally im not entirely bought in to her babe in the woods interviews.

I think R Melina was supposed to be a top trotter this year but after one start looks like she went to the breeding shed. Allegiant is over in Europe doing well I believe. I think we lost out on some of the Ake horses like Special Way and Bond who ended up injured and sent to be mommies.
Hopefully Conversano the winner of the Hambo Oaks who took off a couple of months for some reason and then returned to win the Matron comes back. Very overlooked mare
