Title: SPA Day XXXVII, Friday, 8/29/25
Post by: Trigger on August 29, 2025, 07:46:49 AM
If the weather is accurate it has been raining at the SPA this morning, the prediction is a 1/4" inch or so.  No rain forecast for late morning on there, mid 60's to low 70's temps today, and light breeze.

I'm going to study like it's going to be Good / Fast Dirt, and Good Turf, likely with races coming off the turf other than the 2 stakes races, the 3rd and 11th, both of which I'm a sucker for as we all know.

I'm also following horse(s) at Belterra, and harness horses at The Meadows, Hoosier, The BigM and MST.  All predicted to be FAST.

Selections and wagers coming soon, Good Luck!   ;D

I don't blame ya Calhoun.. to many trolls on the harness side. This side is where to be when talking about betting...
Two bets to start a TGIF and a 3 day weekend.

SPA early Pick 5
2/1,2,4,5,7/2,4,5/3,4,5,7/2,5,9,11,12
$150 chips.. got wrecked there yesterday. Hopefully turn it around today.

Gulfstream Park early Pick 5
1,3,4,5,6,7/5/ALL/3/1,2,3,5,6,7,9
$147 clams.. I hit the mandatory pick 6 there last Sunday..I think it paid between $200 and $300. We are way overdue for a tasty hit there.. today could be the day
Good Luck to everyone!!!

Good luck all

that place is screwed up

I have watched a handful of races there--reading the pps means very little

your DQ was horrible last week

usually I find one or two win bets there over the holiday weekend....but I think I will stop looking and stay away

good luck to everyone today

Yeah...Arnaldo B rides the perfect race as usual. #4 did the dirty work but had no choice.. Christian Hiraldo is not very good.

gotta love that rider tmbz1

The thing about Timonium I am noticing. The bettors may be the worst in the country. Shippers from CT DEL and LRL and there is a big difference in class at different tracks, even if the class itself is similar ( if that makes sense).

agree--they are all coming from different directions so speed figures do not mean as much--as you say you need to closely analyze the conditions of the races they have come out of--and still it is difficult

you could blindly anything Bocachica rides and anything trained by Ness

otherwise it is brutal

Yes we have discussed this many times. The maidens are extremely difficult to predict,  but unfortunately playing horizontals, there will almost always be a maiden race included in the sequence. As you know I like to spread as much as possible in these races, but on that particular ticket, I had a tough time finding a single. Had I chose a different single, the ticket would have died earlier. So we do like you said and move on, or as my Grandpa used to say to me all the time.."well we can rip that page out and onto the next"  It is a very important lesson to learn as a gambler.. do not dwell on near misses or losses. It'll drive ya insane

First 2 legs through.. double the payout because of #1 being a non starter in race 2 and Flavian coming through. Next up..DD. Win this race and I win the last 2 legs and I'll take back what I said about you.

I watched that race eating a nice steak dinner.

I can't have a little peace in my life lol.

Maybe 7 sucked but that winning trainer Abreu he's a 23% winning cheat, his exploits are out there.

Had another horse that raced that scratched, the 4.

Scratch Reason - Reason Unavailable changed to PrivVet-Illness

Sounds like he didn't want to compete against himself possibly.

No offense taken at all bello. I value yours and SOME  others opinions on here. Hindsight I should have singled the 6 in race 11 and spread in race 10. What's that pay? ngc3

Nice, very nice JT, you and the Misses enjoy!

Give me a king cut of that with the bone and eventually the knife and fork go down and the 2 handed savage pops up, no matter where I'm eating it!   ngc3

There is a company that just sells the Prime Rib caps, pretty interesting.

Was a skirt steak, cooked on pan.  Usually I like really my meat fresh and rare, not that one, that needs to be well done, charred even, it's greasy.

Chewy too, you can choke to death!

I only wish!   ngc3

Nice, very nice JT, you and the Misses enjoy!

Give me a king cut of that with the bone and eventually the knife and fork go down and the 2 handed savage pops up, no matter where I'm eating it!   ngc3

That sounds good.. I slow cook mine to  medium well with meat tenderizer, salt, pepper garlic powder and a shit ton of melted butter. By the time they are done, you could cut them with a fork.

As it stands your wife and I are not in competition - AT ALL LOL!   ngc3

Dont take offense to this JT. But for me, Mitch Freidman is an autotoss. If I come down to him in a race, I will skip the race.

I have a strong opinion about this

Friedman is horrible ..auto toss and not only that-if he is favored I go out of my way and bet around him

somehow he around a 11% career win percentage--but at NYRA he is maybe 4% tops

his horses go off long odds for a reason

Robert Ribaudo has the same auto toss status

Im lucky, my wife.. a great Sicilian woman and is a hell of a good cook. Not to pat myself on the back, but I'm not to shabby either.. one of many things we enjoy to do together. Our Christmas dinner with her family is meatballs and sausages, seared on a skillet first and then dropped in the roaster with her homemade sauce from the old country and slow cooked for hours. When the meatballs start to float, you know its done. Served with fresh salad, homemade dressing and garlic bread.

Back when I lived in western NY she would lend me her car to drive to Finger Lakes and Batavia. I knew then it was meant to be.

Sorry no rooms available for rent ngc3.. You sear the sausage and meatballs first because it cuts down on the grease. While in the roaster the remaining grease floats to the top so easy to get rid of.. her sauce is amazing.. full of all sorts of goodies

Most on here hate Hoosier. I do not mind it at all.. usually decent payouts. Just got to know the betting angles. Never leave Trace out of any exotics..even if he is driving a mule. LeWayne Miller is awful. Marcus Miller has been doing decent. Jordan Ross at least tries every race.. Tyler George dominates there.
