Two drivers being flown. Trae Porter and Rick Still, hope both and the horses involved are ok. Announcer is fucking oblivious to what's going on. Was talking about the horse on the lead possibly setting a record. Didn't realize shit until at least a full minute or even more after it happened. What a clueless moron.

Just posted about it. Announcer should hand in his resignation after this one! He was too focused on the time and horse on the lead while I was watching several horses go down and drivers being launched from the bike. He didn't say anything or notice it until minutes after race ended. All while people and EMS are running to help! What a fucking MORON

Cant find OD on Amwager

Couldn’t agree more, BIRD. I THINK this guy is from Canada. How he could miss that accident is unforgivable

That was a very nasty accident. Prayers for all involved. Rick landed right on his neck... and yes the race caller is a dipshit.
-
that announcer is legendary Hall Of Famer Frank Salive
like most people--he was staring at the clock instead of the race
he missed it

Yeh after the race he said nothing for over 3 minutes, that was really bad, with your peeps in binoculars he didn't see it at all live I would imagine.

Frank Salive for real ?? The Velvet Fog has to be over 80 now.... seems he retired decades ago from WEG. Aside from that I pray for all involved.
-
the fact that they are continuing the card is good news
I hope there are no serious injuries
when Hal Belote had his accident-they canceled the rest of the card

I think he is the Velvet Glove
Mel Torme was the Velvet Fog

Called Pompano for a while

I cannot believe that he still calls races.. I didnt recognize his voice right away. Trigger is probably right, he was staring through his binoculars. I cannot blame him for the silence afterwards.. I mean what is he supposed to say. Im sure some of us old timers have seen accidents live and horses put down on the track bringing out the curtain. It is not a pleasant sight to see.

Looks like Still might be serious. Porter also. Foster was also involved and off his drives. Looked really bad for Still. He landed on his neck and head and was laying motionless. Hopefully they will all be okay.

he was calling Fort Erie a couple of years ago and supposedly retired
probably likes crabs and beer

Fair point.
After the binoculars went down, he has a duty for all the drivers on the track to let them know of the accident, possibly loose horses?, I'm not sure if that was the case because the emphasis was on the finish line so we couldn't see so maybe not. But just under 4 minutes he did put out an update.

Gotcha.. I never watch Fort Erie.. except I watched that stiff job by Kirk Johnson a few weeks ago

Just heard from Russell.
“Just sore ankle for me. Ricky and Trae got the worst of it. Ricky knocked out but regained consciousness.
All horses walked off ok”.

Thanks for the update. Looked bad for Ricky. Landed on his head and wasn't moving. Hopefully both will be okay and not have serious injuries.

That’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said about a driver

I don't like to see anyone get hurt. I posted on X last night ..giving a shout out to Lauren Tritton for her very good drives at Meadowlands. I do have good things to say about drivers but unfortunately these guys and girls do not make it easy to do often. So much bullshit in this sport it's sickening at times. I never like to see anyone or a horse get injured so hopefully everyone and horses are okay.
