Like the way JR Plante has revitalized himself at Mohawk. Always had good hands. He’s a price guy too.
-
Right there with you. I've commented several times recently about him. Underrated. tmbz1

Last Saturday his drive on Armor Seelster is the poster child example of a horse / driver drive all of us gamblers, trainers, horse owners, regulatory, fans, everyone,SHOULD love to see in effort.
#7, see for yourself.

Great driver. One of the top two or three at the B tracks.
Too bad his poker tournaments take priority over his catch driving.

Let us know when he gets a bad beat in poker and we'll be all over him just after!

Good guy & good hockey player!

I was more impressed with Scotty's drive in that race. Plan B off the gate. No panic. Got the job done.

Great drive by Scotty too, smart, hungry, very good trot guy as well.
Across all NA, if their "A" driver list didn't fuck so many horses, bury them, complete no tries, activate too late, and all which looks intentional, some very hard to refute - Mohawk's handles would be even higher.
Many of us got tired of it, and if betting there still it's because we're waiting, and following something or someone.

Every time you have lost for one of the above reasons you have also won for the same reason.

That's very philosophical, possibly true too.
I usually get some exercise by going to rural area with a shovel and I dig a hole. Or stay home, clear my mind and watch some underground news where people are get their heads chopped off and their body parts sawed off.
What's one, two, a colony of drivers no longer. We'll always have the Scotty's, Jones', Spence's ready to step up and lead by a Cullen type. ;D
-
Spence has 1 win this year at the show from 33 drives. I'd use him to fill in a post hole in a pinch. lol

I was just pointing out the effort on that drive. 30-1, outside post. Doesn't leave. Brushes to the top from far back. Never let's up and loses by only 1/2 length to the 5/2 Thunder Country who was put through a lot of work to win.
Undebatable that when we back a horse, that is the effort we want to see. Strategy is one thing, effort is another, if they can be put together because the horse has ability, great but, a fair try.
-
The effort thing works itself out over time. You'll win just as many as you lose.
Sometimes you get up the rail to win, and sometimes someone gets up the rail to snuff you out. Generally speaking, we only remember the latter.
I was totally happy with JR's drive in that race. I had Scotty singled in the race for the P5, and he towed him right to the front of the chain instead of letting Dougie back it down and needing to rally into a fast last 1/4.

Different horses, we both cashed, nice job on that p5.
Armor is at Georgian tomorrow in the 3rd, Thunder at Mohawk tonight in the 10th.
Based on the last effort a week ago, I'm skipping! ngc3

Good guy & good hockey player!
Pretty sure he played with Simon Gagne in Quebec. He was in his wedding party.
-
Think he played QMJHL for a spell. When he started out driving at Flamboro, he won a pile with a cheap claimer he owned, cant remember the name of the horse.

I don't bother with Georgian.
Thunder is 2nd choice to the only horse to burn more money that Ron, in the last 2 years, fwiw.
Not an endorsement, but I could see Thunder going down the highway tonight. Only 1 horse in the field to have made more than 100k last year, and his last 2 have him in form atm.

I wouldn't attempt Thunder with your wallet. Horse needs a week off. Set year to date mark, and deserves more than a 7 day break. I wouldn't be surprised if Thunder scratches.
The #4, 0/18 in 2 years and taking all the money, I'd be trepidatious on that horse. Maybe 1st, or 2nd or 3rd.
Crazy as it sounds I might just engage the race with a value play, #2, the likely longest shot on the board. Maybe in a sup with the 3,4,5. Just the kind of race JC pulls the needle out.
