Title: Mohawk should apologize
Post by: MOHAWK FREAK on December 27, 2024, 08:56:57 AM
I don’t believe you could get a bigger fan than myself for their product. Every replay I watch. Every race card preview I watch and listen. I even talk to Elissa and Randy thru my television set.  My whole week is determined by who’s in and when. I get friends interested in their racing. Best announcer by far.  I was even planning a vacation to attend the races there. I totally believe they have the best game and payouts out there in the harness world. Rolling doubles, pick 3s and 5s.  BUT THEY FUCKED UP and I have decided to boycott their game UNTIL  RANDY WAPLES apologizes on his pre race broadcast for the afternoon card mandatory payout of the HI-5 and screwing over loyal fans. Somebody get this information to Randy. I will watching (only)…

Not bragging but my handle was 70k a month but I decided other things were more important in life and I reduced it to 30-45k a month.  That’s total wagering, not losses or winnings.  I think that would be considered a mildly above average gambler. And I am done with Mohawk UNTIL I GET AN APOLOGY.  I will entertain returning to Hoosier once Rick Moore is gone.     I want RANDY WAPLES to apologize during the prerace show!!! Even vaguely throw something out there like “ I want to send a sincere apology to anyone that couldn’t get a ticket BECAUSE OF THE AFTERNOON CARD”.   I would look at the screen and say “apology accepted” then get back to handicapping.  But until then I will shred the program. FUCK MOHAWK.       800k into it from day betters that probably never put a dime into their pools all year.  Yeah. That’s not good.

That’s correct. My state blocked online wagering about two months ago. I have responsibilities during the work week ESPECIALLY end of year and especially in the afternoon.  Any other questions.  I am a sick fuck.

You should also go back to fifth grade math. I wager between 360k to 540k a year. The years I had a wagering account they kept track and sent me a statement. The last few months I haven’t tracked. I’m sure it’sa little less just because the online account isn’t there anymore.

I live in PA and about 7 years ago my ADW would no longer accept my wagers because the clueless legislators passed a bill that would charge my ADW a 10% fee for accepting wagers from PA residents and a few other states. The lawmakers were dumb enough to think that by doing this it would increase on track attendance and wagering which is beyond dumb.

They blocked all online wagering in my state because it was up for vote in November. I believe they did that so these people would vote. It passed by a very slim margin so I guess it worked. Soon it will be set up and go live. Obviously I will have an account then ( but I will still boycott Mohawk)

Mohawk Freak.....geez... .you are a very big gambler.
I allot myself $7500 for the whole year.
I would call you a "plunger".
An old expression gamblers taught me when I hung
out at Aqueduct in the 80's.

Pretty sure that Mohawk is far enough away from the airport that the FREAKS departure notice is not required.

First of all, they have nothing to apologize for, and secondly, even if they did, why should Randy be the one to do it?

Unfortunately there are 365 other people ahead of you on the same list with demands for something, so you have a long wait.

Their loss. I stand firm in my beliefs. This may ruin its course and I may need less bitter months down the road but for now I throw out a BIG FUCK YOU. just like they did to me on a Thursday afternoon card.

I know you're bitter. Just wondering if you looked at the race and handicapped it, if so, would you have hit it?

On one of the threads I predicted the 10 s as the NUTZ. and the 12 not being any better than third. I tossed out of play the 1, 4,6, 9, 11 and would have ONLY used those for fifth on expanded ticket.  I thought the 5 would race good and would have used him second BUT WITH a series of others (including the three) Did I structure a ticket NO.  Would I have had it. I totally believe so. Not just have it but maybe a few times.

I don't bet Mohawk that often, so I'm not that familiar with the horses. Even with a huge pool, it would have been too difficult for me to handicap a 12-horse field even for a 20-cent wager. Had I ventured in, my strategy would have been to key a horse on top, with 3 horses for 2nd, several more for 3rd and 4th, and a few more for 5th. I didn't add it up but it would have been a fairly expensive ticket so I stayed out.

The only problem is they build the pool.with 10 horse fields, then add 2 more horses for the mandatory.

They want to make it as difficult as possible, so you'll spend more money on your ticket.

i try to structure the bet without going overboard. i went with one horse on top 4 horses for 2nd, 3rd and 4th then wheeled the field for 5th. $38.40 for the bet. if you loved the 10 you would have it.

I sympathize with FREAKY.  You guys can say I'm red boarding or bullshitting if you want to.  But this is 100% true.  In the last year, my two buddies and I have played carryover pentafecta tickets at Mohawk a total of 3 times.  We hit all 3 without breaking the bank because one of us is very astute and the other two have been playing the harness races for a million years.  We are all current or former owners and one of us trained a horse who beat Rambling Willie.  Another one of us actually got paid by the USTA for making picks on their website shortly after Al Gore invented the internet.  If any one of us do not like the race, we pass.

Because the race was in the afternoon, and we meet at night, our schedules did not permit us to consider betting.  If the race had been at night there is little doubt we would have played and gone 4 for 4.  The morning line favorites ran 1-2.  The 12 horse looked solid with J Mac and the best form.  There were 4 or 5 horses who were absolute tosses.  And yet it paid over $1300 for 20 cents.  Go figure.

You can say I should have played on my own, but I am not a pentafecta guy.  I hit a nice one at Keeneland shortly after they were instituted but I am more of a win bettor or pick 4 / pick-5 guy.  One of the guys NEVER bets Mohawk except for our carryover plays.

I understand that Boxing Day matinees are unique.  I watched all the races from home.  But i believe mandatory payouts should be Saturday night.

End of rant.  ;D

12 horses only on mandatory payout nights????

The only time this wager should be carried over
is when there is no winner.

After all the monies should be paid out with winners
the same night as they wager.

Also the wager on the H5 would increase dramatically on a nightly basis.

Most, if not all tracks now carryover the pool if there's more than one winner because they know people will bet more. Some tracks even carryover the Superfecta pool to the next race if it isn't hit.

weird
everyone complains about the chalk fest at a lot of  harness tracks,
how pathetic harness is compared to tbreds who have full fields and bigger payouts
how amazing japan and china t breds are
and then a harnness track adds 2 horses to a field to spread out the money and get a decent payout and everyone complains
i guess most of you would be happy with a 6 or 7 horse fields and a 1/5 shot in the mandatory race

Brown Jug makes valid points........... ..too many 1/5 and 2/5 at Mohawk....but what bothers me is alot of horses are 8/5 or 9/5...as they line up behind the car but then as the wings fold they go down to 3/5 and lower....and lately the EX and Tri handle are higher than the Win betting.....not sure if that was always the case...

Since they built the pool on 10 horse fields it makes more sense fo have a 10 horse field for the mandatory.

If you don't think that matters, why not, on mandatory nights, make it a $1 minimum bet?

are you suggesting that every race that built that pool had 10 horses??
sure there was some with less based on scratches etc
accept the challenge and handicap and bet the race
