Jack Lee
Although he has already passed I agree it was Jack E Lee on the harness side.
I know I will get a lot of grief over my pick for the TB side but I really liked Marshall Cassidy back in the day.

Roy Shudt and Fred Cappasella

Thats because he learned from the greatest of all time...ROGER HUSTON

Right now I don't have a favorite. Used to like Gary Seibel, Sam McKee, John Hernan, Ken Middleton and Ayres. All gone now.
-
What happened to Seibel. He was good and knew his stuff.
-
Jerry Glantz, Max Brewer, Jack Lee and of course “It’s a romp at the Pomp”
-
Larry Lederman....Larry I have not heard you in a while. Hope you are doing well.

Joe Rocco, Mike Sardella, Joe Alto, Ken Warketin, Sam McKee, Roy Shudt, Jack E Lee,and Barry Viceory (sic) Ohio

Was he a race announcer or a comedian? He called a race where my horse won at pompano park and was funny too!
-
Tom Durkin by a mile is/was the best.

Both, he once called a race imitating Jackie Mason. I peed my pants

He even made Ocean Downs exciting

The velet-stretch call------------Frank Salive
-
A lot of people don't like this guy but I always liked Stan Bergsteins calls of the Jug etc.
Probably a personal thing but he once announced my name as a winner of the weekly dinner at Yonkers contest back in the 70s on the TV show, which is something I knew I would win that week, so I told my parents to watch the show while I was coming back from the track.
After that they didn't give me such a hard time for being a professional handicapper. I actually took them to the track one time, and it was one of nights Tarport Hap went against Silk Stockings and Golden Fulla in the NY sires stakes. The girls won of course and we all cashed the exacta.

Ken Middleton is back.

Here comes the grief- Marshall was accurate, but SO boring in his presentation. An aristocratic, blue blood delivery, IMHO.

John Hernan is gone?
-
Has Yonkers hired a permanent race caller yet?
-
'Heart Attack" at the 3/4...........Vance Cameron.
-
Vance Cameron? Where is he from?
-
John Hernan is gone?
He willingly left Yonkers, but still in the industry and he's the announcer at Ocean Downs.
-
For announcers working in 2024, I really like rosecroft's announcer.

Sounds like he is having a blast announcing and he is a pretty good handicapper.
-
Sam McKee. Carl and Curt Becker

He was neither.
-
Vance Cameron? Where is he from?
He announces Charlottetown and Summerside in the Maritimes. Accurate, and gets very excited, which you may like or dislike. Go to YouTube and look up the 2023 Gold Cup and Saucer Final, for an example. It was a helluva race, and stick around for after the race to watch Jordan Stratton and the winner greet the fans along the rail. Never saw anything like it.

I liked yonkers guy who left year ago I. Yeah he was good. Went to freehold n ocean downs

Sorry, Jerry Glantz was horrible. The others were outstanding.

I remember Lederman at Freehold at about the 1/2 of every race he either gave a weather report, sports score, or some other info that had nothing to do with the race.

John Bothe, Carl Becker, Sam McKee

Jim Moran- Vernon Downs, going way back.

Daryl Wells Sr. {after he gargeled with Listerine}

The best of all time George"the king"Anthony
That's a joke right? He can now be heard at the Teletheatre at the Meds screaming for 2-5 shots.
-
Roger Huston POS
He definitely was arrogant. I met him in the 90's and gave him a compliment and he snubbed his nose at me like he was Thurston Howell the 3rd.
-
The Velvet Fog !!
-
Gil LeVine was funny! He had some great calls like "Cooking up a wicked brew" "Put a ring around Goose Filter!" Those were old SPK days!!
-
My favorite harness announcer was Frank Salive. His voice is amazing with a perfect cadence. In US Sam Mckee was the best in my opinion. I loved his enthusiasm & he saw horses coming from everywhere.
-
Joe Ricci LOL like the time he was coming to get the state steward, I thing that cost him big $$$$,he never had to work again.
-

you obviously are retarded the king was the best from training - announcing to handicapping he could do it all I miss him and his wife now that I'm no longer in ny and can't hang with them two great people
-

I remember him calling some races at YR back in the mid 90's. He was colorful in his calls and announcements, but I wouldn't rate him in the same category as Jack E Lee.
Some of GA's favorites back then, at 2 minutes to post "just 2 what you gonna' do?" at zero minutes to post, " its post time better hurry".
Does he still call races at Ocean City?
PS - I saw him often hanging out with Hugo Iodice and Mike Sorrentino sr back in the day.
I remember one night at YR they were together on the apron, and I was standing right behind them. As the horses entered the stretch Mike Sorrentino jr took the lead and bling bling Santeramo took 2nd and Sorrentino sr told the other 2, "get the wheelbarrow". I guess they made a big score.
-
NOT Roger

Since you were so close with GA maybe you can answer the question the whole harness world wants the answer to besides the question of whether or not Drucker's hair is a wig.
Does GA dye his hair or is that shoe polish??
-
The Velvet Fog !!
"Frankie Spit"
-
WTF has Roger ever done for this sport. It's all about him, he has made a very nice living off us. All the extra cash, tapes & videos he never does anything m without being paid never met a free meal he din't take. Slobbered all over any woman that would get near him. He should donate his never going behind the mike again to all horseman and bettors.
-
Personally, I'm a big fan of LucPark's racing commentary. tmbz1
-
The drunk guy at Northfield who said "Oliver Clozoff coming on strong!!!"
-
As far as a technically marvelous call, in MHO Kurt Becker is the best I've ever heard.
Comically, Larry Lederman was in a class unto himself.
Ken Warkentin is fantastic, as was Sam...RIP.

It’s Kiwi #9,,,and his perfume will make your eyes bleed

Does this means the races were scripted for drivers and others cashing tickets and wrestling??

Watch Dover
-
So many good ones over the years to choose from. Jack Gallagher, John Hernan and Ken Warkentin among the best. Frank Salive may have the best voice. Larry Lederman made it the most fun.....except when my horse made a break.
-
Vance Cameron? Where is he from?
Used to announce Western Fair years ago until he was caught stealing over 30k from one of the teletheatres.

Joe Zambito 11.wp

There’s been a few great announcers

You are absolutely correct about him anticipating moves. I also think he makes a wager or two, just judging by some of the comments he has made in his race calls. Excellent announcer for decades.
