High Risk of Equine Toxicity
Oxymetazoline is an imidazoline decongestant designed strictly for human anatomy. Horses are highly sensitive to these compounds. If absorbed systemically or accidentally ingested (e.g., if a horse chews on a spray bottle), it can cause severe poisoning. Symptoms of imidazoline toxicity in animals include:Dangerously low blood pressure or sudden spikes in blood pressureDecreased or irregular heart rate (bradycardia)Lethargy, weakness, or profound central nervous system depression
