I have noticed that there are 2 or 3 "Expert" posters
that seem to be very knowledgable or at least say they are...all Midwest "Provincial" players...
as they held the Chicago tracks in high esteem
while the East Coast tracks are "poorly run" and
should be closed.
While one poster mentions the horses he or she owns. the   long posting trio seem to have a superb
perception of how "not to run a track" e.g.
The Meadowlands...man y would say that this begs the
question of why there is no racing left in Illinois?
I myself used to love the old Balmoral ..and Sportsman's
 Park was excellent.

One would think that if Midwest Racing was so
wonderful where are Michigan and Illinois
in terms of the USTA list of Harness Tracks?
Answer:   there are none.
Guess it must have been the Christian Track
operators...or were they "Hebrew Track Management"
that ruined the racing?

I am thinking that Yonkers , Monticello, Saratoga,Batavia,
Buffalo, and Tioga seem to be still there...
as well as The Meadowlands thanks to Jeff Gural.

while Balmoral, Maywood, Sportsman's and others
in Illinois have gone the way of the Dodo bird...

Where were you?

Many feel that the expert posters on here who donot agree
with Track Management..wheth er "Hebrew" or "Christian"..
or "Athiest"...or any specific track...

step up to the plate and buy these tracks out...

Put up $60,000,000 to $75,000,000+ of their own cash
and set forth to do a better job...as you are Track Management
Experts.

Needless to say, You will be working 10 hour days
and 60 hour+ weeks...so don't get comfortable.

What's that?

You are short on cash...and time?

So maybe its time to sit back and let the real players
in the Industry run the show.

If you have any serious comments with regard to improving
The Meadowlands...giv e Jeff Gural a call..
chances are he will actually return your call.

It is real easy to complain and slander anonymously
from a keyboard .

Are you affiliated with the BigM and or Jeff Gural, it very much seems that way.  Your $100k or his to buy this site?

To answer your question...

"Illinois harness racing effectively collapsed because its tracks were historically denied permission to operate slot machines ("racinos") to subsidize prize purses. This triggered a talent and investment exodus to neighboring states. By contrast, New York and New Jersey heavily protected and funded their industries."

"Illinois: Tracks like Hawthorne Race Course (Besides Two Toes BS and mismanagement  ngc3) and the now-defunct Maywood Park and Balmoral Park were not permitted to add lucrative casino games until 2019. The prolonged delays in financing these casinos, mounting track debt, and bounced prize checks to horsemen resulted in the Illinois Racing Board suspending Hawthorne's harness license, threatening the sport's survival."

Using "a success  ngc3" as an example...

"New York: The state supports its harness racing industry by routing massive tax revenues from commercial casinos and "racinos" (like those at Yonkers Raceway and Saratoga Casino Hotel) directly into purse accounts."

The asshole named Lucpark identifies M1 as the Hebrew owned track. Of course the midget doesn't realize that the track he races his horses at did less business with a card of Breeders Crown races than the Hebrew owned track did with a card of amateur races.  ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

Isn't it funny how this topic was addressed to the Chicago expert posters and of course you know who has to chime in with his copy and paste.

I have never been to any of those tracks in the mid-west but was saddened by their closings. The end of racing anywhere always affects many people negatively. Here in New England, we have seen more tracks close then we can count. I'm not sure why some posters have to inject "Hebrew" or "Christian" or any religion when talking about ownership of a track. It's just kind of stupid. But I'm used to it already. That aside, the tracks still running in the northeast are a welcome sight to a fan like me. With all the hate and vitriolic comments made about Jeff Gural, I think i'm still glad he's in the business. He's an old guy now, so who knows what the future will bring. But I think harness racing will be a lot sadder if he sells his tracks to devolpers and gets out of the business.

Jeff leases the M1 from the state of NJ

he claims he loses money every time he turns the lights on.

his hopes of having a casino anytime soon are dead-it will not even make it to the ballot in November

he has said this the last year for The Hambletonian at "his" track

the title is about Chicago racing-but the thread is not

Thanks Mike Campbell and Dougie...

These are 2 posters who know the score.

Just too bad that this site was ruined by one or 2
posters that are racists.
Really gives the Sport a bad name...and one supposedly
owns horses...hard to believe.

yet he is more than willing to hurt The Sport as well
as the site with his nasty comments.

A Child at best...probably was beaten up in the playground
and now trying to get back at the world.

A very selfish individual ....

and there is one poster that laughingly proclaims

himself to be a "Good Guy, and a Good Christian"

while insulting The Jewish Heritage....

so he is not a Good guy...nor a Good Christian....

Maybe he should know that his Master was a Jew.

Gurals Casino...

Maybe you can do a better job?

We are waiting.

Many think running a racetrack in NJ with the casino
interests is a walk in the park...

These casino companies donot wish to share the windfall
with any racetracks...

Gural is trying...which is 100% more than many.

I think there is little to talk about concerning Chicago racing. Like New England, in pretty bad shape. Nothing will bring them back. But do you think harness racing will be better served if the Meadowlands go the way of the "Dodo"?

Truth is the hate for Gural is kind of interesting. If it's because he's Jewish, well that's very sad. Not surprising. But still sad. If a person has a disagreement with how he runs the track, thar's fine. Every person is entitled to his opinion. And Gural's Casino is right about one thing. It looks pretty certain there will be no casino at the Meadowlands. But it still begs the question. Do the folks who support harness racing want to see the Meadowlands close it doors?

huh?

I did not criticize the way he runs his track

all I did was state facts

he has been crying/posturing for a casino for over 10 years and feels he is entitled to one

he grossly misjudged the way Trenton operates--and he isn't getting his casino

if you have a problem with that--good luck to you tmbz1

two days a week racing filled with freehold horses and amateur driving races....for several years now

other than 5 weeks a year-it is already in do-do land

Over the years,JOHN FRANK ARMY has defended LUCPARK on anythin. Maybe my post don't count as I a TB guy.
But the guy has been in the standard bred game a long time. Grew up in it: IS A FACK. Nows the CHICAGO circuit like no other.
Hard not to take his opion not seriously. Might not be the greatest handicapper bein around the game so long, but he do know the game.

Did JOHN FRANK ARMY just compliment LUC. ME brains must be goin mush.
If you read this LUC. Read on another post that GENE,"CIGAR",passed away. Is that true. He was a good friend.

Great thoughts J.F.!, However opinions are are like ass holes ( everyone has one)! Guy's who profess to know how and why somethings aren't working enjoy the thrill that comes from being correct if indeed they actually solved the issue from afar.In my opinion 😉!
