Could look again but I do know [I watched the horrible replay] it was not just before the finish,
it was just about at the half mile. Announcer had given 1/4 time but never heard a 1/2 time called. It was Belmont 1975

I was there. Ruffian was undefeated and maybe the greatest filly of all time. Ruffian was slightly in front after a quick first quarter. When she broke down the crowd groaned. We watched Jacinto Vasquez trying to pull her up. I'll never forget Foolish Pleasure's jockey Braulio Baeza looking back with concern. A horrible ending to a great filly. Rest in Peace Ruffian. I remember when the another great filly, Go For Wand broke down. The trainer was holding her down and crying, Another sad moment in racing.

  • Sweet: There very well might be a Twilight Zone spot happening on the backstretch at Scioto Downs, what the heck is happening that is spooking the hell out of the horses and making the drivers look like drunks  ngc3
