I remember him well, taped glasses and his plastic bag he always carried......I used to call it his briefcase.
A couple of weeks ago one of the biggest fixtures over the years past away, I still remember his rough voice been heard when rooting for his horse in a stretch drive , Many friends attended his funeral and that made me happy. When i think of racing to me its the characters and some crazy and some a little less crazy but that was a huge part of the everyday scene. Not many characters left sad.
Standardbred Canada never made an obit for him. Do one you fellas want to reach out?https://standardbredcanada.ca/category/news/obituaryHere are the contacts over there (Maybe Jeff or Brittney?):https://standardbredcanada.ca/content/contact-us.html
Gamblers have never hit that page, Only at Gulfstream did i ever see respect for old timers that spent their life being there, but thank you very much , i appeciate it
He was an owner, trainer and driver too...here is an excerpt from a https://standardbredcanada.ca/ story when he finished 2nd in a handicapping contest..."After completing a blind draw, it was determined that second place and $400 in prize money would go to Sheldon Silver of Toronto, Ontario, finishing with a bankroll of $117.50. Silver’s involvement in harness racing goes back over 30 years ago, when he was an owner, trainer and driver. He now considers himself a fan and takes pleasure in watching the simulcasting at Woodbine Racetrack."https://standardbredcanada.ca/notices/10-11-17/riff-captures-oss-pick-8-contest.html
