R.I.P. Scott Ehrlich
« on: September 08, 2025, 09:54:52 PM »
I am devastated to hear that Scott Ehrlich has passed away.  My sincere condolences to the entire Ehrlich family and friends.  He was a pioneer for the sport and just a fantastic person as well as one the best track announcers Ive ever heard.  I know he was battling cancer receiving radiation therapy.  This comes as no surprise due to the nature of his cancer and the most recent photos of him.  He became noticeably bald and had a very strange overall look to him.  Im also aware that being from Jewish decent like myself, that the odds are and were stacked up against him.  I implore everyone to reach out to his family and express your condolences.  The world lost a great man today and I wish him a wonderful journey.  I really hope that Lisa and the kids will be able to uphold his passion for business and be able to collect anything that is owed to him.  In honor of Scott Go Cubbies!!

Baruch Dayan Ha'emet

Never heard of the BRCA gene mutation until this year. Too many ashkenazi Jews carry the mutation. So sorry to the Erlich family.

Thank you for your contribution to the racing world.

His friends said he was suffering.

He was so beloved by those close and they were highly protective of him.

The greater the mourning the tougher it is for the survivor, be strong, isn't that what he would of wanted.

Honor him by remembering his contributions to all your great times together.

He's now Resting in Peace.

Sad to hear this news.  He wasn’t liked in Chicago but I still think his race calls were annoying.  Saw him at expo and he didn’t look good at all and was losing his hair.  If I know Scotty he is heaven with a big bowl of motza ball soup with rabbi Feldman.
Johnny Johnson fucked up Chicago harness racing. I hope you die !!!!

Will there be a memorial? Probably not bc Erlich was a notorious cheapskate.
Will there be an estate sale? I'd like to bid on his pleather gym bag with the duct tape holding it together. Maybe I'll even bid on his collection of Thunder Ridge programs and bundle of losing tickets from the 1988 Hawthorne meet - when Erlich cried like a pussy every time Dave Magee lost at 6/5.
Adios Mr Erlich. Hated by many, loved by few. Annoying to all

There’s a post on his Facebook page from four hours ago.   If this is a prank it’s not funny

Real class man.

Whatever you thought out loud now of the guy who is gone and can't defend himself, says a whole lot about you.

Sure freedom of speech, it's Plop, a guy you didn't care for is deceased and you want on his pedestal.

A day in your life must be fucking treacherous misery.

My parents taught me properly to never speak ill of the dead. I did not know this person, but your comments reflect more on you.

I think his family all share that account.  Again no need to speak ill of him because he’s gone but Chicago fans did not like him.  Never the less rest in peace with a big bowl of motza ball soup.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
