The leg was the 2 yr old that had to be euthanized?
Is the person responsible a female? If so, I used to think she took good care of the horses in her care, and I can already hear one of the excuses that will be used. Makes me fucking sick and furious.

Who is it???

Same as Bourgault. At least the process has begun. Released pending prosecution and court isn't she is free to do whatever she wants. Now if anyone gives her horses THEY are to blame. Amazing how many people say they knew all this yet did nothing about it while owners continued to send her horses. Think about it.

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, a Verona woman was arrested on September 12th, 2025, following an animal cruelty investigation.

On July 3rd, 2025, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit received a complaint about multiple malnourished horses located at MC Stables, in the Town of Verona. Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit and Road Patrol Unit responded to MC Stables to check on the welfare of the horses. During the investigation, 17 horses were located, and each were evaluated on scene by a local Veterinarian. The horse’s health conditions were scored poorly, utilizing the Henneke Scoring System. One horse appeared to have sustained untreated/neglected injuries, causing its condition to deteriorate and ultimately require euthanization.

MC Stables was responsible for boarding, training and racing horses for multiple individuals. These individuals were contacted, and some arranged the removal of their horses from MC Stables. On September 8th, 2025, a Search Warrant was executed at MC Stables allowing the Oneida County Sheriff's Office to remove the remaining horses from the property. The horses were transported and boarded by several volunteers throughout this investigation.

The case was ultimately forwarded to the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office for Grand Jury consideration. On September 11, 2025, an indictment warrant was issued for the owner of MC Stables, Misty Carey, age 49, for the following:

-17 counts of Agriculture and Markets Law: Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance, all class A Misdemeanors

-1 count of Agriculture and Markets Law: Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a class E Felony.

On September 12th, 2025, Carey was taken into custody by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit and Road Patrol Unit. Carey was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing. After processing, Carey was held at the Oneida County Jail, pending an arraignment in Oneida County Court. On September 15, 2025, Carey was arraigned in County Court and released on her own recognizance.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted throughout this investigation by members of the Rome Humane Society, Rovers Do Over, Leatherstocking Veterinary Services, Oneida Equine Service and several volunteers

49?  She looks 65 easy.  No way she can still be licensed anywhere.  And if someone were to give her a horse, they should be charged knowing her past.  Another white trash black eye on the sport!  Good job you fat, white trash skank!

California owner had 7 horses on farm, (3) are buried there, The Klis Brothers had (1) Rhodena Road, since December 2024 they said she stopped all communications. California and other owners tell the same story. I know the Klis Brothers had an investigator from the NY Racing and Gaming commission go to the farm. They contacted the Oneida3]'cx Sheriff's Department as well, in late June they did a wellness check. On or about July1st she was brought in for questioning where she admitted these horses died and are buried on her farm. The USTA is aware but crickets so far.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
