Just a guess, but do to your exprience with the Houghton stable I will guess it was a Houghton filly.
no it was not a Haughton filly. There was a major clue in my question. “Conventional sulky “

Forth Heat?
Haughton connection?
I will guess the filly that caused the near fatal end to Steve Lobell and the end of 4 heat racing.
yes that is correct. I bet that took some searching. Her name was Ambro Regina that beat the boys in the 3ed heat and forced a 4th heat that Steve Lobell won  the key was filly conventional sulky to the question. Yes Steve Lobell had a near fatal heat stroke which did lead to the conversation to end 4 heats in the Hambo and which it did. However it did not change the rules for the 3ed jewel of the trotting triple crown the Ky. Fut.
Which makes me think of another trivia question. Who was the last horse to win in 4 heats the trainer the driver ????  I believe he was the favorite in the Hambo that year at the Meadowlands and made a break. I’m doing this by memory. I barely use a computer but I’m learning. Hell I  just got an email address this year for the first time …

I forgot to mention that Ambro Regina was trained and driven by Joe O’Brian hence the conventional sulky clue. Joe was reluctant to go to the new modified race bikes. He also had a great 3yr old pacer that year named Flight Director that he took at lot of heat from not using the new modified bike to try to break the pacing record.?????????

I believe Joe owned part of the CA. company(Wilform) that made those war wagons.
What sulky modification did Joe(Wilform) come out with ,that was not accepted then, but is now standard on the new race bikes?

Under slung
I don't know about the under slung part, but Wilform was the first to make an offset race bike, but because it was still the heavy war wagon it didn't catch on.
Today all new race bikes are off set with the left wheel moved in closer to the seat.

In 1966 (still a teenager) I was at Springfield when Jiggin Jesus came flying down the stretch to win The Little Pat 2 year old stake in 2:00 with Armbro Hurricane.
What was the significance of that mile?
If you go back a bit in the pedigree of many of the down under horses you will find Armbro Hurricane.

The Arden Downs Stakes at The Meadows are coming up soon.
What famous race horse and sire trained at Arden Downs for his two year old season for Harry Harvey.
I don't know. Is Arden Downs still there?
I raced there in the early 70's.

You are correct sir.
If I had not added Harry Harvey, would you have still got it right?

When Del Miller built The Meadows he had to build a free parking lot on the hill overlooking the track.
Why?
What was it called?
It was to get the support of the local churches.
It was called Presbyterian Hill.
It was also a great place for young lovers!
