There's no reason he shouldn't be somewhere around 7th or 8th, which is decent money for someone who's basically broke.

I agree. I think he'll do fine. I'm not sure if anyone can make a great living racing in Maine.

I remember the horse Mountain Skipper from a long time ago driven by Arthur Nason.

He's got a win and 2 seconds in the first 4 races. 2nd on a 60-1 shot in the 4th. He is putting on a clinic there today.
1 for 7 is no Clinic , he’s a bottom feeder there, give it a another 2 weeks and he will be driving long odds horses. After he shows he’s in over his head the few trainers that are showing some allegiance to him will list him as a back up.

He's also benefitted by Bruce Ranger not driving there yet.

Everyone, let’s simmer down a little.
The guy can still drive.
If you watched him yesterday, and not convinced, then you’ll never be.
He fits fine into that driving colony, and I’m sure he is thrilled.
How about just enjoy it and don’t look for ways to be so negative.
If you don’t like the guy for his past, so be it.
It’s out of your control, so either enjoy the racing product or find another track to consume.

“All the negativity in this town sucks and it stinks!”
Coach Rick Pitino when he was with the Celtics.

For the purse structure plainridge has a very very weak driving colony.

As a "Mainer', all I can say is Congrats Casey. He fits the driving colony at Plainridge. I know that he'll make a better living splitting his time between Massacusetts and Maine. Watching him drive, anyone can see that he still has the ability to get to the winner's circle. There's a rumor that the state of Deleware has lifted it's suspension of Casey. I've tried to check with no success on that rumor. I doubt he'll go that far away from home anyway.

Check your glasses. Cumby is Cumberland race track and fairgrounds. Walter has many drives there today and tomorrow actually. The purses are less than half of Plainridge's but he lives near there I believe. All the horseman and the 15 fans who attend the races there call it that.

I'm about 30 miles from Cumberland. It's really a fair track. But despite the very low attendance. you can stand around and chat with the owners and trainers. Purses stink, racing is mediocre, grandstand looks like it will fall down any minute. But the air is fresh and the area is very pretty.
